Lots of peeps on this thread know lots about cats and animals. Leo is looking very agitated and nervous. Two doors down the road some workmen are dismantelling scaffolding. Leo is always very nervous about the sound of ladders being extended, or similar unidentifiable noises. In the light of his nervousness, does the panel think do you agree with me that he would be better off in a cattery when there is work being done on the roof of this house?

He is used to going there, and it would be quiet, warm, and peaceful. So although he would be in a cage (albeit a very large cage) would he prefer that do you think? Strangely though, he is not at all bothered by the noise of fireworks.

If Leo is used to the cattery then it could well be less stressful then the strangeness of the roof work.
How long is the work going to take?
Is it only the noise of the ladders and scaffold being moved that disturbs him?
Would he be ok while work is being done between setting up and taking down of the scaffold?

I guess he might just see the cattery as a holiday.

I agree with NT, time for a brief holiday for puss.

Merlot is great with visitors, greeting everyone at the door, but when we had the windows done she was most upset and might have been better kept away for the two days.

The roof timbers need replacing. It needs more tiles, as the existing tiles do not have enough overlap. So there will be thudding noises of people in the attic, I presume, as well as sawing of wood and then cutting of tiles.

The work is expected to take a week, if the weather is favourable. It is only one half of the roof needs replacing, the front half of the roof is at a different angle and not so exposed to the weather. I think the cattery is unlikeily to be full that week. The owner of the cattery is very good, and will understand that the date of Leo's holiday might change at short notice. Tasha is not all bothered with strange noises. She was a stray cat on an industrial estate for several months, so she is more "bomb proof".

His name was chosen during a game of Boggle with my Mother. The three letters down the left hand side spelt his name! She likes word games, and we were playing it shortly after he chose to live with me came here from the Cats' Protection League. ^_^
