These forgetful phases can be expensive as well. About five years ago, I got really fed up with my racing bike (a Bob Jackson 753 frame) and threw it in a council skip in our road. I have no recollection of doing so until six months after. I subsequently went to look for it and not being able to find it in the house accused both of my sons of using it and getting it stolen. They were adamant that they hadn't touched it (quite rightly as it turned out). One morning I woke up at about 4.00am and remembered what I had done with it. I had to eat humble pie with my sons and feel bad that I'd chucked away an expensive bike. I'm feeling embarrassed as I write this.
The only thing positive out of this was that it gave me the excuse to get a new one. It was quite an expensive mistake though.
