Talking of white powders, when my Mum got a bread maker, the recipe booklet suggested adding vitamin C (ascorbic acid) as a flour improver. Said you could get it in healthfood shops. So she went and looked, and couldn't find any, so asked at the counter.
The assistant looked shifty, and asked what she wanted it for. "Flour improver" said Mum. Eventually they reached under the counter and brought a packet out for her. Apparently, people buy it to cut cocaine with, so they have to monitor who they sell it to!
At 70, Mum thought this was hilarious!

For goodness sake, I was wide awake at 6.30....
I guess I've slept a lot over the last few days. Had a headache, so thought I'd take a painkiller, but it says 'with or after food' so I reckoned I better get a cuppa and a slice of bread and honey to go with it.
Bit more drowsy now, might just close my eyes again for a bit...
