26, I've been meaning to ask - did you get your feet wet when you crossed that river? Oh, and was that picture on your avatar taken in Somerset?

During the flooding of a few weeks ago I was up to my fork crown in what was a river made from a normally innocent looking brook. So a bit more than my feet got wet.
My Avatar is obviously me on what used to be my daily commute

Right. I'm heading over to NT's today, so I actually have to get up and get properly dressed and stuff. Going to be a bit of a shock to the system after three whole days in bed....

OMG!

I've just flicked through the programme guide on the telly and found out there's an episode of Bergerac on Yesterday (the channel, not the day), at 11!!!!!!

I'm.... hungry!

Properly hungry. First time in days!

I shall have a boiled egg! And soldiers!

Well, it is snowing here, most of it is going sideways, blowing in from the south, past my window.

Not slept much, so a late start today. My cough seems to be back with a vengeance over night so every time I drop off I cough and wake again. My head is a bit too so I have had and toast.

I want to get a load of joinery finished today, having fitted all the guest room second fix electrical yesterday evening.


Edit: Wah! first cup of full strength coffee, since Monday, has just hit in!

Snowing quite nicely here now, but it's blowing round quite a bit so not putting down a deep covering yet.

The good lady just shouted from that room she lives in (cooker,worktops,dishwasher,microwave in it?) ..... "Would you like tea and toast"

The council only grits the main roads and it's chaos on most of the side streets.

During the last couple of deep snowy winters, when I was teaching, I was up and outside at 6am, with Mum, digging the car and driveway out from under a foot of snow, clearing the rest of the street to the main road, digging out the neighbours, and then driving 35 miles to college to prepare for classes before 8.30am.

I would then get phone calls from locally based staff and students saying they couldn't get in due to the snow!
They clearly were not trying hard enough!

At the end of the day I would spend time digging and towing cars out of the college car park as I was one of the few sensible enough to have a shovel, a digging spade, a sack of rock salt, tow ropes, hand winch, electric winch, high lift jack, old carpets, etc. in the back of the car, and knew how to use it as required.
Despite only having front wheel drive and summer tyres (no tyre socks or chains), I never got stuck and never missed a snowy day at work.

Of course, I am paying for it now by being unable to work due to the stress of being taken advantage of for being dedicated....

There is two inches of snow here now, and it is snowing steadily. I think lots of people are taking this as a day off.

It's snowing here and settling in North London. It's predicted to get worse over the next few hours. We were going up to Cambridge for a work project for Mrs R but she's decided Skype in, instead. Sensible, because the roads round here seem to be pretty gridlocked. The council only grits the main roads and it's chaos on most of the side streets. I'm going to have a quiet day.

Is Mrs Rocky a good skier? I have not heard about these new Skype skis.
