I am confused. I would like to get some watch batteries. I have about six watches, and four of them need new batteries. There used to be a very helpful gentleman in the market who sold batteries, and would replace them for me. However, he retired.
There is another younger chap doing it, but he charges (?) lots more, and does not seem to be so careful about removing the back of the watch without risking damaging the watch. I could probably do a better job of it myself.

My question is this (yes, there is one): where do you buy your batteries for watches? On-line? I would like to get a reputable brand like Duracell, rather than risk the battery leaking etc, and spoiling the watch. I have looked on line, and they all seem to use different numbers to identify the size of the battery. If I start with a reputable on-line seller, then I could work out the size from their numbers. Any assistance from the sensible peeps on this thread is appreciated.
It is much cheaper to buy batteries on line. The bugger is removing and replacing the back of the watches. I recommend you go into a jeweller and pay a bit more just to be sure.
BTW Lullabelle is now playing with her new toy

New toy is running it's 'auto clean' programme. I will be very busy tomorrow playing with my new toy, the fact that clothes will be laundered in the process is a bonus.

:hello:I've dragged my brother out to find some real winter conditions. Not on bikes though.
I can confirm that it is proper arctic up on the Long Mynd and that it is sheet ice where it's not knee deep in snow. Am thawing with :cuppa:

Fortunately a plough has cleared the 3 foot drifts on the road.

It's quite pretty where the snow has blown through the hedges.

The path to Shooting Box. It was about knee deep here.

I tried out my micro spike crampons, which are brilliant! Doug doesn't have any so is rather bruised after falling 3 times.:B)

Speicher, taking the back of watches is easy if you use the right tool. You want something flat, strong and no thicker than a teaspoon. Place it under the lip of the watch back and gently pop it up. I worked in a jeweller's for several years and even I managed it without damaging a single one!

I don't wear a watch but have a few items that use CR-2032 batteries and I buy them here - never had any problems with delivery or quality. (Mind you, am trying to wean myself of Amazon because of the whole tax issue.)

Thank you Jo. I have a very small teeny weeny* screwdriver, the sort that you use to tighten up screws on spectacles. I used that successfully on nearly all the watches. I am also trying to avoid Amazon, and will have a look at that link.

<shrugs> "Should I spend my life looking outa ze vindow, do you care, vat am I supposed to do... you never call, you never write."

I remember hearing a Jewish comedian saying the perfect gift for a Jewish mother to give her son for his birthday, is TWO sports jackets. So thereafter, whichever one he wears to visit her, she can say "What's the matter, you don't like the other one?"

NT and I have been out, being cultured at the Art Gallery, where we saw a very good exhibition of cut-paper sculpture and art. And had :cuppa: and cake, and randomly bumped into an old cycling acquaintance of mine.

I have been carrying on with fitting the skirting boards, job abandoned yesterday to be with Arch. However, it would have been sensible to have charged my drill batteries first.
Job abandoned again until later.

You should only use an itty bitty screwdriver, but in an emergency it is possible to use an eeny meeny one. Teeny weeny ones aren't suited to the job in hand^_^
