Cool! Good luck!

I've never seriously thought of motorbiking, and the older I get the less I fancy it, but then I'm blessed with good knees - I can certainly see the benefit for you. Anyway, it's another thing to have under your belt - I sort of harboured an ambition to get licences for various things (motorbike, JCB, helicopter etc) just to say I could...

Are your knees so bad that any cycling is out, or is it that you can't do enough to be practical? Electric bikes are coming on in leaps and bounds these days - but if the knees prevent any pedalling then you're losing the benefit of the bike part, and a scooter sounds ideal...

The knees are bad. Very bad. Practical cycling is out. And if I'm going to go the any sort of motorised aid route on a bike, I simply refuse to consider an electric assist bike: awful things! I think they are horiible!

If I've got to go the motor route, then I'll get a proper motorised thing.

Well, ok, but I've seen some very nifty electric bike set ups, where the assist is barely noticable to a casual onlooker - but then I'm 'in the trade' so to speak.

There's a company in Winchester making them with a battery that goes in a water bottle type container - that and a wheel motor can be fitted to any high end racy type bike you want... They're not all clunky things with enormous battery packs.

However, you're obviously going for what's right for your knees.

Can't see an electric assist doing me a 50+ mile roundtrip, Arch. That's the sort of miles I'm requiring (Norwich & back is that, as is King's Lynn & back). Whereas when my knees were fine, that was no hassle at all to be doing on the bicycle, now they're not. I'm being ultra careful with my knees - having to be ultra careful about what I do & don't do as I don't want to end up an old lady having to use walking sticks or a frame  I'm hoping I can get my knees back to some sort of level where I can get back on a bicycle, but now it's not an option in the short-term and it's looking unlikley medium term  Hence looking at various motor options - and I really don't like electric assist bicycles!

That's a heck of a smoothie...

Oh! Not altogether....

I'm having a coronation chicken roll, a bag of crisps and a piece of cake.

And tea, of course.
