Mrs Ian was always a fan of those Dyson hoovers at about £300 a time. They last a couple of years at the most and spray more dust out then they suck in. I convinced her to get the £99 Henry Hoover earlier this year. She wasn't convinced.... she is now.


The one we have had at work is near 8 years old, does a lot of work and has been faultless...

Funnily enough I was looking at getting a Dyson,we've always gone for fairly cheap ones in the past so thought I'd treat us to something decent. Then I found an old thread on here and the Dysons got a terrible rep.
Henry's seemed popular and look to be decent value for money.

I have got a Sebo vacuum cleaner that is about ten years old, and still very good. At the time, I thought it was expensive, but has a good filter, and the option of a very lllloooooonnnnnnnnnnggg hose for doing stairs.

My friend's nephew used to really be into vacuuming, he's about 5- he vacummed her flat for her when she got a house, apparently he's growing out of the vacuuming though.

I remember Oli's second Xmas, when they came up to Mum's. He arrived brandishing a long cardboard tube, the middle of a roll of wrapping paper, which he proceeded to push round the floor making hoover noises. His Dad kept trying to show him how to use it as a light sabre, but all he wanted to do was hoover with it.

The funniest moment was when he hoovered inside the washing machine - because the day before my Mum had been doing exactly the same, when some feathers escaped from a cushion she'd washed.

God, it's been cold today. We got the rounds done, but a lot of people hadn't put stuff out, so it was a light day.

I have no idea how cold it is outside. Apart from putting out the bin at the end of the garden, I have stayed indoors. Fortunately, the on-line shopping order means that I will not starve...yet.

We actually had a milk delivery today....well done milky as it is still very bad out there.
Though we did have a snow plough come through couple of times last night and this morning. (Due to us being a roustabout bus route).

No trash/recycling collection today.

And the icicles we have hanging from the roof of our houses are very impressive.

As long as the van can get to you....

We had to help a City Link driver get his van out of the road leading to the centre - it wasn't especially deep snow or anything, he'd just spun his wheels and dug a hole for himself.

Beryl, despite her battery issues, is pretty good in the snow - heavy, with narrow wheels, she has fairly good traction. We even got up Old People's Hill (and back down again) fine. Her main problem is getting out of the centre, and that's because of the stupidly deep gravel they covered part of the area with.

The very nice on-line delivery lady was here on Tuesday, when we had about two inches of snow, we now have half inch of snow.

Due to cuts, this is now a Subway on a rollerskate...

I'm off to bed soon to keep warm.

I've caved in, and put the storage heater on, mainly to keep the flat warm while I'm away seeing a friend over the weekend. It doesn't do much, but it takes an edge off...

That snow overhang is still there over the road! Wonder how long it'll last. Saw some cracking icicles while I was out working today.
