You should use an oil radiator, Arch.
They cost a bit more to buy but use less electricity then a fan heater and you can leave it on low to keep the chill off.

Maybe one could be asked for on Freecycle.

Yes, I've thought about getting one - it's mainly my hopeless inability to get stuff done that I haven't. Maybe I'll have a look after Christmas, when I can think again.

As an extra bonus, my shower wouldn't come on this morning , the low pressure light was on. So I had to wash my hair in the kitchen sink. Which meant doing the damn washing up first!

There was water when I got home, so I think the pipe must have been frozen.

Never mind, I've got my tea. I'm going to head off to bed in the not too distant future, and knit.

I have been very good and limited myself to 5 choccies, a Bakewell tart, and a couple of small chocolate brownies. Think that deserves a nice mug of HC

What did you use instead of a scraper? A plastic lid from a biskit tin? Library card?

I was very patient and let the heater warm up the windows enough to see out of.
Sat there with my woolly hat on and Ski gloves keeping me toasty warm
