There's a fresh pot just here Arch. Pass that mug over and I'll pour you a large one.
I been a bit cream crackered today too. Don't know why. Could be it's a bit cold I suppose. Never mind I shall have a rest. I've got stuff I need to do tho'.
Cheers, I needed that!
We had an interesting afternoon. A chap rang up last week to ask if we could collect 20 boxes of paper from his self storage unit - it was technically business waste (the entire archive of a local electrical retailer as far as we could tell), which we don't do, but my boss negociated a donation for St Nicks if we did it (plus we get to sell the paper of course). So we took Beryl round there to meet the guy at 2pm.
Of course his unit was on the first floor, so we had to carry the boxes down. All
45 of them. And it wasn't just paper, it was paper in folders and ringbinders. So we spent the rest of the afternoon sorting the damn stuff out.
Emptying the ringbinders was one thing. Undoing the countless rubber bands and paperclips holding the little wodges of receipts together was another.
And he didn't give us the donation like he said he would, he said he'd arrange it with our boss. He'll be in for a bit of a price hike, now the boss knows how much work was involved.
It would have cost him a fortune to get the council to take it.
Still, we amused ourselves by reading out the more salacious bits of the company records, including the saga of the incompetent electrician (who electrocuted a vicar's wife), and the bitter memos from various staff made redundant or not getting pay rises over the years. We get the impression the company were bastards to work for.
I was quite headachey by the time we finished, and after a half in the pub really just wanted to get home....
