A question for Arch or 26by25, can I put the waxy paper sort of bags (from cereal packets) in my compost bin? They are a useful size for collecting up weeds, dead flowers etc, and keep their shape for putting things in. Glossy paper does not seem to compost well, so I was wondering if waxy paper is the same.

I usually have healthy cereals, but occasionnally indulge in Honey Nut Loops.

The film about the Resource Centre, where I am a volunteer, was screened last night on a Community Channel, I will watch out for it being on youtube. You will be relieved to know that I am not in the film. ;)

I'm not sure that most cereal bags are actually paper. I think they are mostly actually plastic. If you look on the cereal box, it will probably tell you somewhere that the box is cardboard, and what the bag is. If plastic, then I doubt it'll compost - unless it's actually one of those cornstarch type bags.

Very glossy paper probably has a kind of plastic layer on it that makes it slow to breakdown. We have to be careful about not taking very glossy 'foil' type wrapping paper for that reason (although in our case it's paper recycling, not composting). For the same reason, we're picky about the windows in envelopes. We can hear a tell tale crinkle at 50 yards.

Some people are very good at tearing the windows out of envelopes. Some people aren't. Some people are very good at tearing out the windows, but then put the torn out bits in with the rest of the paper!

I watched "Walking Dead" very late last night. It was not very scary, totally unrealistic and very silly, and that's just Andrew Lincoln's American accent.

If people are already dead, how can you shoot them?
And there's me thinking it was a true story
Whoever told u to watch rubbish like that?

Anyway better go, someone's set fire to my car.

Srsly? Oh Noes!

Dear me, I've come over all internet.

Hmmm. Black pudding and mash and beans didn't really touch the sides for dinner. Going to need some toast I think. And I haven't even ridden anywhere today, although I did just walk round to the shop.

yeh - Stockport... where's that Ian? Oh, potsyland. I thought it was nice and warm up there with all the cars being set on fire from time to time. Not like London, which was exceedingly pleasant this morning what?
Somerset is shaping up nicely for its own section in CoffeeChat CycleChat, since 'jo' arrived. From "alternative pies"(passim) to new ditty - the board is perking up!

Really hope that's a reference to some dreadful film I haven't watched....

My jokey comment in reference to the above post by Mr Aperitif obviously didn't work
Though coming home tonight was like riding thru a war zone with Police everywhere after a crash that shut one of the main roads near work, then there were 3 or 4 separate Police/Fire/Ambulance sirens going off nearer home.
Had my recovery milkshake and small pork pie for supper

 - Made me smile - and sorry for being so gratuitously flippant, but it got some 'mileage' and is 'on fire' for potsy. Anyone for..?

Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack.

I'm on a train....

It's quite a wobbly train, which makes typing tricky and mousepad control... interesting.
