Military vehicle Club eh? There is one of those Army Surplus Stores not a million miles from here.

Here we go. http://www.mvt.org.uk/video.html
It was at one of their events, many years ago, I got the chance to tow a really big gun with my Land Rover.

Then when I joined the Duxford Aviation museum I got to drive a Stalwart and move a tank that was missing its turret.
With a Land Rover club, tagging along at heavy vehicle trials, I also got to play with some Scammells and at steam rallies I drove a Thornycroft Antar tank transporter during the arena display. I also managed to play with fire engines and got to test drive a Dodge fire engine that a friend was thinking of buying.

I eventually got my own AEC Matador artillary tractor that would normally have pulled the gun I first towed.

Be still, my beating heart...

I drove the Company of Cyclists ex-mobile library in a carnival once, all the way down St Albans high street at walking pace... My clutch foot went numb...

I didn't mean for the firemen to tie you to a fire engine, Speicher. I thought you could join them on parades, like a military goat.

Hmm, I think I better stop digging.

Tea?

It would appear that the Ashdown WW2 camp (from Night Train's Link) is not a million miles from here.

I wonder....

On a subject close to peeps' hearts on this thread: I have to choose the nibbles for my Mother's part of the party that will be at her house in the late afternoon/evening of her birthday.

She has said she would like Prawn Crackers (that's the easy bit, cos Tecso's only have two or three sorts on-line).

Crisps? Any favourites, or ones not to touch with a barge pole? Red Sky, Seabrooks? Doritos?

Pringles, yes, the edible sort, not the jumpers  ? I will be doing an on-line order tomorrow, if you have any sensible suggestions.

My main impression from that page is that mannequins really aren't designed to pose with bikes...

Don't forget to watch BBC4 11pm Wellington Bomber. Ahh, that will be past your bed time. You'll be wanting a freeview recorder next, or Sky Plus.

Alas, it will..

I'll get used to colour before I get any more fancy ideas....

Speicher - Kettle chips are good posh crisps. Vegetable crisps are an interesting addition to the buffet table.

Nuts are good - I like them salted - peanuts, cashews, macadamias...

Will there be a cheesy-pineapple-on-sticks-inna-cabbage?

Will there be dips? Those grissini breadsticks are good for dipping. I could eat my own bodyweight in cheesy-pineapple-on-sticks and breadsticks-in-dip.

Time for bed, before I make myself hungry! Night all!

Red Sky crisps are nice. I'm fond of the sea salt ones, featuring salt from Plax's neck o' the woods.
I can also vouch for Coronation Chicken, having made some earlier on.
