NT, you should beef up the number of noggins and fix a sole and head plate first before fixing studs. Door frame needs 2 studs either side to fix frame to with noggin over. Good idea in bathroom to fix marine ply [or at least WBP ply] to studs before plasterboard to give you good fixings without having to locate studs.

Usually yes*, however I am also working with what was there. The old timbers where already there and some of the ceiling timbers, in the guest room, are attached to them. If it was clear space I could/would have framed the wall with a sole and header. The next bit of wall will be done that way:thumbsup: . There is also a change in ceiling height too. Would have been nice to be able to clear everything to start afresh but that would also mean replacing some of the roof beams that have been reinforced with steel sometime in the past.
The studwork around the door isn't there yet, it is held in place with a couple of plaster board tabs to stop it moving about. I will need to make some polygonal studs to fit the change in angle.
There will be more noggins, when I sort out the pile of timber in the other room, and some more studs, hopefully.

Ply on the walls is a good idea, I was going to just double board it, but it will depend on budget. There is not a lot of funds for this but I am determined to make it habitable again.

*Actually I knew there was something I forgot about, thanks for the reminder:smile: . It is one of the pitfalls of having memory loss. Most of the time I don't know what I have forgotten. The house wasn't well built so I shouldn't really follow what is already there. One of the walls I removed was suspended from the ceiling beams and didn't even touch the floor, save for a few rusty nails.

Might be worth doubling up studs where the height is greater than 2.4m/8' as 75x50 are a bit small over 8' to fix plasterboards to, you might find it all a bit wobbly.

The ceiling is just under 8' so I might just get away with it. No different to the other stud walls up there I guess.
I am part hoping that I can use full height sheets but I'm not sure I can get them up there. I think I might still have some 6'x3' sheets somewhere in the house.
Not buying any though, until the wind calms down a bit.^_^

I offer to you, as a measure of the day I've had, that I was not at all surprised just now, when, in the act of putting on a sweater, I punched myself in the chin.

I need bukkits of :cuppa:

I'm cooking a very half hearted dinner of rice, with Dolmio. I really can't be bothered to do any more!

I felt a bit guilty at lunchtime when I succumbed to the additional samosa temptation, but in the end it was lucky I had the extra calories on board...

Plasterboard wind sailing :hyper:

Here's a sample of my day:

Put paper in box on trike. Turn to pick up next bag of stuff.
Chase paper down street.
Replace in box, weighed down with cardboard.
Chase both card and paper down street.
Repeat, with various paper, card and plastic bottles. Still, my boss ended up chasing a box glass at one point!
Bang head repeatedly against lampost.
:banghead:
FInish an hour late, after doing 4 trips into town on the trike.

I made the mistake of opening a window whilst working today. I only wanted to have a look outside while getting a bit of air.
Some plasterboard scraps on the window cill made a hasty, wind assisted, escape and was last seen flying across Manchester!
I didn't bother trying to chase it.

Thank you. Gradually feeling almost human again...

Time to do the washing up, then make another cuppa, and to get into bed with the laptop to keep nice and warm.

The riceanddolmio was alright, not exactly cordon bleu but filled a hole. I might have a couple of bits of chocolate with my next tea, I got some coffee creams AND a chocolate orange for Christmas, of which I have some left... :hungry:

I am going to catch up on some recorded tv and then decide if I am going to theatre rehearsals tomorrow. I have lost interest in it TBH after I heard the director calling someone a 'Mong'. I had had spoken with her before about it being offensive but she made stupid excuses and isn't taking on board that the term is offensive when she says it. I don't have the energy to bother dealing with it all as well as rehearsing and building/painting the sets especially after I had requested that I would only have the energy to do one or the other.
I love doing the shows, both on and back stage but it is too draining to do both and suffer the director.
