:cuppa: for me please. I had good intentionsto get some work done today but I have slowed down. My mind and body seem to be running slowly as if draggin a great weight/ Everything needs far too much concentration to make happen.

May have to rest uo today and take a break from it all.

I agree, if you feel so tired, have some rest.

I venture to suggest that your idea of a rest might not be the same as mine. ;) "Resting", strangely enough, does not include building doorways, and removing floorboards.

Today it will be lying on the sofa eyes closed and holding a book with the pretence or reading.

I managed to take a mitre saw upstairs this morning to cut some noggins but I felt like having to rest half way up. It was only a little portable saw too, like this one.

Portable? Is that similar to the adjective "mobile" that is sometimes placed in front of "home"? :giggle:

I once lifted two portable generators and carried them twenty yards. Before picking them up I had asked the owner of the generators if they were very heavy to which he replied, "No". The twerp was being obtuse, and had not expected me to be able to lift one, never mind two. That incident proved to me beyond doubt, that if you lift an object, its weight is magnified at least five-fold when you try to carry said object somewhere. Going upstairs, I think the weight of the object would increase by a magnitude of ten.

Well, it is only a little saw with an 8" blade and portable as in not the big 12" bladed one that is fixed to a stand in the workshop.

I have always wanted one of those ................ but I am not allowed .............. because I would do myself an injury with it, as I am prone to doing with sharps saw type objects.

They are not so bad, if used properly. The biggest risk is to the ears as they are so noisy. I would reccomend ear, eye and breathing protection as a matter of course.

The biggest problem is getting one that is big enough for the job to save over-working a small one. The one in my workshop will cut over 4"x16" IIRC.

I over-worked my little B&Q Proline saw many years ago and stripped the teeth on the spindle gear. There was no replacement part as the saw was budget, but good*, and not made anymore so I had to repair it.
I welded the damaged part of the gear and filed the teeth back onto it before heat treating it.

*As with many B&Q tools, if they accidently make something that is actually good they quickly remove it from the shelves and discontinue it.

You see there your argument breaks down I am incapable of using any tools properly, I might for a short time then I would do something stupid with it one day because that is the way I am ^_^
That applies to many road users but it doesn't stop them.^_^

Seriously though, I will use my tools in the same way I approach using my car. It is a good and useful tool that needs to be used with respect and understanding following a period of training and regular retraining.
