Been away in Bolton since last Friday, my mum was taken into hospital with pneumonia. Really didn't think she was coming out, several of the old lady's in there didn't make it.

Staffing levels on weekends and evenings were appalling, with just two trained nurses on looking after 24 people on a ward. During the week was not good ether as they are very overworked. They don't have time to spend with the patients.

The lady in one of the beds, even with the protected meal times did not receive the attention she needed and the help to keep her fed and hydrated. She died on Wednesday.

We never left my mums side from 9am - 8pm. Not letting go there again. She wants to die at home not in a place like Bolton Hospital.

Anyway she is better now and more awake than she has been for ages. Hopefully she will live a few months longer with cancer.

Glad to hear she's had a turn for the better now, even if things aren't good longterm. Better to be at home I reckon. My limited recent experience of hospitals follows yours - not enough people with not enough time to do a decent job.

Nearly dinner time. I just nodded off reading a book....

I managed to pick up a nasty bug in there too. Anyway back home in York with Bikepete cooking roast chicken. Hopefully I will be well enough to tackle all the college work tomorrow.

Glad to hear your Mum is out and better.
GWS yourself though. :hugs:

I have hurt my back. It went :surrender: as I handed a little bit of plaster board, up some stairs, to my neighbour. I think I just reached out a bit too far with it. My back is very sore and stiff now and I can't turn my shoulders side to side.

I find a lot of tinned soups are too salty. I did not add any salt to my soup, just carrots, one potato, peppers, and Five Spice Powder. There might have been some salt in the butter used to soften the carrots, that's all.
That sounds lush!
