My tractor won't run!

I put the batteries in it and connected the motor to the controller. I got a controller fault response for a missing contactor.
Of course it has a missing contactor, two missing contactors in fact. The replacement transaxle has a reverse gear and so I removed the reversing contactors.

Hmmm, need to figure a fix but the Curtis 1214 controller doesn't have an option for not using reversing contactors.
:cuppa:

I could, of course, change the controller for my Curtis 1209 controller and that also gives me the option to raise the voltage from 48V to 72V. That would make for a very fast tractor!:hyper:

Most of that made absolutely no sense but I like the sound of a fast tractor :becool:

OMG, F1 tractor racing...

Of course, to race, you need to build another one....

Of course you could. That's so obvious I'm surprised you even mention it.

Nope, didn't understand a word either. I understood the bit about 72V though.

It's quite simple really.

The original tractor only had two gears, slow and fast. The controller had big relays that made the motor run forwards or backwards as required.
The new set up has three forwards gears and one reverse gear.
The controller only needs to run the motor in one direction. So I removed the big relays that made the motor change direction as they weren't needed.
I didn't realise the controller sees that as a fault and so won't run.

I could put the big relays back and have all the gears in both directions. But increasing the voltage by 50% sounds more fun!

It would certainly be vibrant. Curacao is the really bright blue stuff, isn't it?
Bugger, I haven't got any, or I'd go and make one and report back...
