Ah, but your's can't be compared with, well, anything. It is unique!!
What range and performance are you aiming for once it's fully fettled?

He's not sure, but it'll be able to pull jumbo jets out to the runway....

That Bentley...

Phwoooaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr!

I am hoping for around 70 miles per charge comfortably, but that is on paper. Real life could be very different and I am watching the battery technology that is in use at the moment to see if it lives up to the promises made.

Performance should be wheel spin all the way to 50mph with only one gear. It'll be a fixed!^_^ Top speed will be about 85-90mph before the motor explodes. That allows me a safe 70mph with a little over speed on hills and overtaking without over stressing the motor internals. I am expecting to have a controller cut out at 75 or 80mph but with no clutch, gears or 'engine braking' I will need the brakes to ensure it doesn't run away down hill and overspeed.

Although, I listened hard, and the Bentley didn't quite have the Merlin sound. Something to do with not actually being supercharged perhaps?

(I sound like I know what I'm talking about, but I just picked up the non supercharged bit from James May on the programme....)

I was at a steam fair/car show once, and a bunch of us were gathered round a big Cadillac with the bonnet up and engine running, when Something started up in the distance. Almost sounded like a Spitfire. Herdlike, we drifted away, to find two blokes with a Merlin on a trailer, well tethered to the ground, and running a little stumpy prop. What a sound! When they throttled back, we all ducked!

The Cadillac was left, ignored.

Similarly, any excuse to type this :-

The fact is simple. The Spitfire looked good. It was every bit as dashing as the young men who flew it, and in flight it was as graceful as any bird. Its progress through the sky seemed effortless, as though it was simply riding the breeze and its Merlin engine was only there to provide a suitable soundtrack.
You had Mr Churchlill on the radio explaining how we'd never surrender, and above you had the Spitfire, and you couldn't help thinking: Yes, we can win this thing.
Possibly, just possibly, the Spitfire is the greatest machine ever made.

Mmm, yes, :cuppa: please.

Just having a spot of lunch, having been sewing liners for bags this morning. I've got a dozen tyrres soaking in the sink for a scrub later, and I might make up another bag or two. Now that I've got my old Singer up and running (thanks to NT), I'd like to have a go at replacing staples with stitching.

And then you think... Concorde.

And frankly, lots of others - the Mini, Incubators and defribullators, my posh tin opener that never fails to open a tin, and has a comfy handle. A machine is great if it does what it should, reliably, easily and manages to look good too. The Spitfire looks beautiful, tugs a huge patriotic string and all that, but never had to be cost effective, or anything dull like that. The Hurricane was just as good at its job, but looked just a little bit squarer, and had a slightly less glam name.

Don't get me wrong, I love 'em too.

I have a stack of laser cut, and precision bent, bits of metal.:hyper:
Unfortunately they are the wrong shape.
I think the Acad drawing (not my work) is wrong.
The laser cutters are checking the drawing for me to see where it went wrong and if it can be fixed.
My hand drawn drawing is right though, as is my prototype.
Oh well, it'll fix.

It usually does. And if it doesn't, try a bigger hammer....

Phew! Time for :cuppa:. I've been.... wait for it.... tidying!

I still don't suppose my Mum would walk in and say "Oh, this is tidy!", but it's a lot better than it was, and I can easily reach all the stuff I need, like my sewing box and crates of raw materials. Still a bit of organising to do, but it can wait a bit.

Going to make a batch of spag bol for dinner, so I'll have three days' worth. Back to work tomorrow, that'll be a shock to the system!
