That's a shame Gromit, but do what makes it easiest for you. We often feel we must have a greater connection with family than other people, when in fact we can't choose them, but we do choose our friends, because they are by definition the people we like to be with.

I had to send a couple of condolence cards to my uncle and cousin last week, after my aunt died. These are people I've only met a handful of times due to them living in Kuwait or Canada all my life, have virtually no connection with, and in the case of my uncle, I'm afraid, don't like very much. I sent the cards because I knew a) it's expected and b) for my Mum's sake (it was her sister who died). I won't feel a great loss if I lose touch completely.

It is different when it's your sister and the kids. I'm doing all the contacting. Tonight I said I understood and I won't bother any more. A normal family would not allow that to happen. I think my instincts are right on this one. It has only been six weeks. :-(

Sorry it was your mum's sister................... :-( :-( :-(

It was expected - she had Alzheimers, so it wasn't a shock. Sad, but she wasn't who she used to be by the end. At least Mum got over to see her a couple of years ago, before she deteriorated too badly.

Worry not, I gave it an hour and then sat back and enjoyed. :mrpig: :thanks:

Anyone for :cuppa:?
T'was never in doubt :mrpig:

Had a nice lie in, ready for a bacon butty and more :cuppa: now.

Having a slight bad run of luck recently, nothing major but lots of little things going wrong, very frustrating

I've got back to find that the apartment block opposite has put up bunting and a Union flag. Hurrah!

The flag is upside down....

Just having a sandwich and crisps, then I'll make a :cuppa:

That's very nice of them, to celebrate your return like that

I have finally gotten around to checking out the damage to the bike, so far it is -
Broken rear mech hanger
Broken rear derailleur
Damaged spoke(have a new wheel ready to go on so might just put that on)
Lots more scratches to add to the ones already there

Also need to re-attach the chain to the correct length, sort out the gear cable that we cable tied out of the way, and properly straighten up the shifters to the correct angle after they bent inwards a bit.

And breathe :cuppa:

The carnival was good, with lots of people wandering about. ^_^

I saw a baby elephant that would have looked good in my garden, as well as a digger, also a camper van, and a land rover. They would have been too heavy to carry home, but the owner of the stand said he could deliver items. The one I really liked was a tree trunk with a pair of owlets looking out of their nest and a parent owl. The top was shaped like a shallow bird bath. That was already sold, but I expect he will get some more soon.

Warm doughnuts were consumed along with a cup of tea.

I could quite happily eat several doughnuts right now.
