Happy birthday Arch :hugs:
Now, normally I'd say put your feet up and let NT do the running around after you today, this might be a be impractical though ^_^

Happy birthday my love.:birthday:

Thank you. :smooch:

Potsy, he's doing his best! Even got up and put the kettle on for our morning :cuppa:, although I had to carry the mugs back to the sofa, it's a bit tricky to carry two mugs while wheeling in an office chair.

CAKE! :hyper:

A mix of coffee icing was made and some cat brains added.

Need to make some room for it first - a late breakfast followed by lunch means I'm far too full for cake yet!

Hopefully pushing my dearest round the street for a bit will work up an appetite!:cycle:

You will try and remember to go down any kerbs backwards. I expect you know that, but it is just a teensy reminder.

I do not want Night Train falling out.

Looks like a dry afternoon, I will be doing some gardening this afternoon, then watching the last stage of the Tour de Suisse. Finishing off by doing some more sewing.

Btw what is the Policeman doing on those paper serviettes? Being chased by a giant lemon?

I was going to say that I've had a bit of practice with pushchairs, but then I recall how often I find myself saying "Sorry Oli!" or "Sorry Max!" after bumping them into things...

I expect NT will want to wheel himself as much as he can. but I'll try and take the strain off his arms a bit.

No, course not (unless there are photos)
I'm sure there will be photos of some sort....

Happy birthday!! And (another) GWS for NT.
I've done 30 miles this morning on my Ribble ratbike. It works surprisingly well, considering it's now a mish-mash of nominally incompatible bits. Ribble didn't have any of the correct rear mech hangers left, so I got one from Halfords that's more-or-less the right shape. A 7 speed 12-32 cassette means that changing gear is a major decision - close-ratio it ain't. And I'm fairly sure that road brakes aren't meant to have V-brake blocks in them. Still, it all works, and that's the main thing...

Whoever invented characterful cobbled roads should be done for disability discrimination!:rolleyes:

Just been out on the wheelchair, only to a neighbour's house along the cobbles. Hard going doesn't come close as it took two of us to negotiate it. Forwards on the way there and backwards, as it was easier, on the way back.

Still it was nice to get some fresh air and see some friends for a while.

We forgot to take photos but I'm not going downstairs, and outside, to do it all again.^_^

I am struggling to think of any reason why cobbles should exist.
They're hopeless to drive on, terrible to cycle on and (as you've found) rubbish for wheelchairs. They've just got nothing going for them at all. 'Characterful' my bruised and battered arse.

Well, they are an effective method for keeping speeds down on my road. And I do like them, especially having had my whole drive laid with reclaimed cobbled a couple of years ago.
Not had a problem cycling on them as they don't form 'tramlines' in the direction of travel.

I think the problem here is that the pavement, where it exists, is too narrow to get along with a chair.

Hopefully, going the other way, towards the main road, will be easier. I found there was just enough width of pavement when I brought the thing over.

Hard work though, I had a go once we were back and got utterly stuck on the cobbles at the bottom of the drive, and stuggled to lug myself up the very slight incline of the drive even once on the smooth slabs....

Hmmm. I inadvertently did about 10 k of cobbles on a tour once. Cycling them was something of a problem, as was sitting down comfortably afterwards!!
Yes they may look pretty, but I personally loathe the stuff.
