Which pubs would that be? I'm feeling a tad homesick for the inns of Hertfordshire given the price of booze in Oz.

Rising Sun at Halls Green, then Our Mutual Friend and the Dun Cow in St Evanage. Feeling a little under the weather today, for some reason...

I would love to have my car back if I could drive it.
Arch is a good chauffeur but I do miss the independence of driving and cycling, and even walking, whenever and where ever I need to.

My packing is done and my bag is overly heavy.
Not good when I can't trolley it and have to wear it on my back while walking with two crutches. It will be annoying if I can't get a seat on the train.
Some of my packing could have been in the other bag in the car that Arch took over to York but I hadn't sorted it all out at that point.
I could manage without crutches but I can only walk half steps, slowly and only for even shorter distances.

Right, an early lunch and then, hopefully get the train at just after 12.30.
No laptop, too heavy, so further posts will be by phone without proper smilies. Must learn the codes one day.

I'd rather it was gout as I can get rid of gout with a change in diet and habits. Arthritis isn't so easy to get rid of.

Why won't my phone charge faster? I want it to be charged before I head off and it is always running out of charge. I think the battery is knackered and it is only about 10 months old.:cursing:

I am in York. Yay!

When I changed trains at Stalybridge I was met with a carriage stuffed with teens, many of which seemed to be young women, wearing clothes that had shrunk in the wash, wellies, silly hats and buried in a pile of tents, sleep mats and massive rucksacks! One of the lads very quickly gave his seat to me, joining the standing crush, and the group of girls made me as welcome as possible. I still had my booted leg in the ailse and my rucksack on my lap though. Fortunately they all got off at Leeds and I was able to breathe again.
There, a chsp bolted on and nabbed the adjacent table seat almost knocking me over. He grabbed out all the reserved tickets in the seats and said 'Fook that!' , tore them up threw them across the carriage. Then a woman joined him and between the two of them they covered the table in food and mess. In comparison to the very well behaved teens these two had seen the better side of 50!

Got off at York in a storm so headed off to get a taxi, queing at the rank. When I got to the front the driver asked if I would mind if I got the car behind while he took 8 in his people carrier. That was fair enough. However, as I looked to the next taxi I saw two women getting in from the other end of the queue!
I wasn't having that!
I shouted out 'There's a queue!'
I was ignored. The women had already annoyed me as I had to get past their cloud of cig smoke as they had been smoking while standing on the painted 'no smoking' sign on the pavement.
Anyway I stopped the taxi from leaving and gave them a few choice words and phrases. Then I told them to leave and make hay, in a round about way. The people behind me cheered me on and said 'You tell 'em' and words to that effect.

I then got the next taxi.
The driver told me I should have stood my ground longer and made them get out. He also said that as I blocked the rank the CCTV would pick it up and the driver would get pulled for picking up fares out of line, especially as a disabled person with luggage was waiting.

So, it was eventful but I am here now with :cuppa:.
My leg hurts, my foot hurts, and I am exhausted but glad to be in York.

Not a good time to come to York NT with the races, there are a lot of rude drunken people out there. Anyway hope you and Arch have a lovely holiday.
