Tea? (Part 2)

I have been trying to sort organise rearrange my books. So first, I thought, take all the books off the bookshelves that are out of date. Yes, about twenty. Then I would see if I have any duplicates, yes three. Then I have been trying to put books on similar subjects together on the shelves. Except some books are large/tall/heavy and therefore go at the bottom of the bookcase. I had found two books that were waiting to be read, one of them is by Paul Coelho "The Zahir". What is the Latin or Greek word for "intense dislike of giving books away" and "has enough books to read for the rest of my lifetime". The impetus for all this activity is not wanting to see books in a sort of double decker system.

I think I need now, and then a final tidy up.

Ha, yes, books, very difficult to lose!

When the time comes to move ovver t'hills, I'll be having a life laundry, but I suspect most of the books will make it through.

I have always liked books, and most of mine are not novels etc, but the sort of books you would read or consult many times over. Plus there is all the foreign language books and grammar books etc. Plus some of sentimental value, like the one by Laurie Lee in which he has hand written a dedication to my Grandmother. Books that belonged to my Father and lots of really interesting ones on Art, History, Sewing, Landscape, and Photography.

The novels ones that I would probably enjoy reading again. I do not intend to acquire an E-reader wotsit either, just in case some one suggests that.

I have so many books, probably best part of 1500, and I tend not to get rid of any that I have. Arch's books will probably fit in her study, or I will have a section of library, just for her, in the living room.

E-readers seem ok in theory but I doubt that most of my books could be found electronically, nor would they work in that format.

I have not dared count my books, perhaps I should. How large is your house, if Arch will have her own study, and you have a Library in the living room?

Yes, I agree, NT with what you say about E-readers. "Zahnrad-Bahnen der Alpen" (19 Bergbahnen in Deutschland, Frankreich, Osterreich und der Scheiz) and "Mauritius: Light and Space" are two books that I would not expect to find electronically.

My ex wife had several thousand books. After one recent (and costly) house move she decided to get rid of a load and asked me to take them to various charity shops. There must have been close on 2000 books to dispose of.
