My back garden slopes gradually uphill, so that the far end is about three feet higher than the patio near the house. Fortunately there is a ginormous drain running along the width of the gardens. There is also a big drainage channel around the edge of the patio, rather like a tumble drier hose, with holes in it, and covered with shingle, which itself leads to a ginormous drain.

Has anyone got a good idea as to how I can explain to Leo the cat, that I am not responsible for the heavy rain. Furthermore, if it is raining in the back garden, chances are it is also raining in the front garden. Notwithstanding the fact that there are about 50,000,000 items for sale on Ebay, Wellington boots for cats, are not available for purchase, even if he does not mind what colour they are.

Yes, I put it into Google translate and it came out.....it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness.

The weather here has been so bad the past few days that the canal and fields are flooded, in some places you cannot see the fields! The strong wind and rain woke us up at about 4am today, nearly got up for :cuppa: decided to go back to sleep instead. Hope everyone else is ok and not flooded

I'm keeping an eye on that webcam I posted, and it's risen visibly (IE the tops of bollards are disappearing) in the last hour or two.

It's still 2 metres below the highest, but the water will still be coming down off the dales, and there's more forecast.

I've been into town for dinner and the river had definitely risen in the relatively short time we were in town. I'm sure there's be more to come. Some poor bugger had left their bike chained to the racks in Queens Staith and the water was above wheel level already.

Well, as long as it doesn't get hit by floating debris, it'll probably still work when the water recedes, unlike cars. It'll just need a bit of a wipe down.

Nice to see you back in Tea, BTW! :cuppa:
