Our cat Billa has been glued to my lap for over two hours. If I put the fire on full she will get off my knee and go and sit near it, if it's down to one bar, that is when she attaches herself to me. I think I prefer her when she was in her younger days, she was a little less clingy. Now she 18/19 she needs people more.

You could fill her up a hot water bottle, let it cool a bit and put it under a folded towel? My old JRT thought that was Utter Bliss.

Yeah, I know she's getting on a bit, but my memory of Billa suggests that attempting the towel thing might lead to Maiming and Visits to Casualty.
