I knew that if I left it too near the deadline for filing on-line returns, the law of Sod would dictate that he hmrc website would not let me gain access, then I would be in a big muddle, to say the least. Registering for on-line submitation of numbers pertaining to taxation takes at least two weeks.

I remember when I registered to submit my VAT online it took an AGE to do it I had to register on 2 different websites. First I had to register with the government gateway then that gave me access to register on the vat site for online submission. What they didnt tell me was I then had to register for online payment, silly me thinking it was all part of the same thing  the government really dont understand the internet, infact the government dont seem to understand much of anything except how to make something quite easy into somthing really really difficult, tims consuming and frustrating :cursing:

The link from the Gov Gateway to the Hmrc site used to be a very fragile one. Eventually I spoke to a real person about this, who advised me to go direct to the Hmrc site, and not through the Gateway, despite this being the guidance given on the form received from Hmrc telling me I could submit my Self-Assessment form on-line.

Do you think it will be a good idea to stock up on large mugs, extra tea, and more biskits in readiness for on-line Tax returns by any other residents, as opposed to non-domicilliaries, of Tea?

Usually, I find that the Tax man owes me money. Very kindly :wahhey: recently he has sent three refunds, the total of which more than pays for my roof to be retiled. ^_^

I am afraid I dont file my own tax online I get my accountant to do it, but he usually saves me about 2 - 3 times what he costs me.
