As I have not followed this thread for long I am a little confused by your DIY. Are you doing a Grand Design and if so why haven't you mentioned Kevin?
It's our own little Grand Design...
NT's house is big, but he currently lives in a one room bedsit within it, with his folks in the granny flat on the ground floor, and the rest needs renovating. The top (2nd) floor will be our master bedroom suite (currently a building site), and guest room (currently full of building materials), while the first floor will be the kitchen (where he currently lives), a living room (currently filled with Boxes of Stuff), his office (and also a guest room), my workroom (and also a guest room), and a bathroom.
The room that will be his office was previously a box room stuffed full of.. er.. boxes. Just before Christmas some relatives announced that they were coming to stay at the end of January, and this requires two guest rooms ready. My future workroom is already a usable guest room, so we just needed to clear out all the boxes from the future office.
And rebuild the window wall.
And move the door frame.
And rebuild the ceiling.
And re-plasterboard all the walls and ceiling.
And fit all the necessary sockets and switches.
And plaster it all.
And paint it.
And fit skirting and architraves.
<simples!>
I'm helping where I can, but of course, I'm only here at weekends, and I'm learning as we go... It's fortunate that NT has so many skills!
But, while it's been a bit stressful, it will mean that this room is done and finished, and we can get back to working on the master bedroom.
