Breakfast Butty for Zipps!

I am soooo avoiding going out in the rain now.
Brought the Good Lady to work on the tandem at 9:30 this morning and so far I've resisted going home again in the rain.;)

Tandem - is that the family "car"?

I woke at 9am this morning and got into work at 9.10 - by car. Roads empty. Had meant to cycle in, but forgot it was Tuesday today, not BH Monday!

I have got as far as cycling through my gears and testing my brakes - in the dinining room. Just need a shove to get me into the "I am a hardened cyclist" persona from the "ooh I drive cos the roads are too dangerous in winter" mode. Lazy git ;)

Anyone for a brew?

Been out braving the Sales and have bought five pencils, a second hand book and some clothes dyes. Quite painless really.

Ah yes, the 'tdr1nka tandem taxi' in full effect!

Yup, the tandem is as close to a family 'car' as we've got.
The tandem is used for the School run with Miss t. and for taking the Good Lady to and from work, it's quicker than the local bus!

What with Miss t. having learned to ride her bike now and the Good Lady getting over her fear of being in traffic(hinting at wanting to ride independently once the weather improves:biggrin:)I see the tandem getting used a little less frequently come the summer.
Not such a bad thing as I think the wheels and entire drivetrain will seriously need replacing by then.

I adore the tandem but in comparison to my road bike it is heavy, slow and really too small a frame for me to ride anything more than 20 miles at a time without killing my back.

Still, there'll be a few camping excursions in store for the machine this coming year and I must also kit her out with front and rear racks for some gentle touring.

Tandems Rock!

Yes please! Longers, I've always thought you were a good sort, but that shopping list tips you over into positively adorable;). What was the book?

I just bought something, I'm going to start a thread about it, because it's sooooo frivolous....

Something too frivolous for Tea?!

What is the world coming to?

'Tis nasty and rainy still in London, still trying to find the best place to mount my DV camera to vid my rides, so far I've either filmed the sky or the ground. Something inbetween would be good.

TEA UP!!

Evenings.

MrWC has been getting on with the decorating today. I took WCMnr out driving again. As MrWC has been working hard, he's getting a particularly tasty evening meal: salmon with dill & citrus, little potatoes roasted in their skins, carrots, green beans & asparagus spears.

Mmmm, I'm about to go and grill a breaded haddock fillet and have it with some mash and stewed red cabbage.

Here's a food question for all you experts. The Waitrose Xmas pudding we had said on the label "Do not reheat after cooling". Isn't this nonsense? We always have leftover Xmas pudding reheated the next day, either in the microwave or maybe fried. It's part of the fun. I couldn't see any reason whatsoever why not, unless it's some very general thing about making sure reheated food is thoroughly reheated, in which case why not just say that? I wonder how much pudding was thrown away because of that....

Actually, Fab Foodie might know... New thread coming up....

Do you mind if I ask what you are thinking of dyeing with the clothes dyes?

and do be careful just how you shove Zippy!

Evenings from me too! I'm taking a break from the decorating. I'm having a final push to get the kitchen finished. Thanks to Spandex the tiling is finished. I just need to do some filling and painting. It's being much helped by mugs of tea and chocolate brownies leftover from Christmas.

That's a nice thing to say

It's Spike Milligans Transports of Delight. The Oxfam is about the best of the few bookshops we have round here.

I've got an excellent "new" green dressing gown and have 3 shirts, two trousers and three jumpers to do tomorrow. For twenty quids worth of dye and a quids worth of salt I'll have some smart new threads

Oh, that's brillant, I have that and the 'Further transports of delight' too. Plenty of amusing bike/tricycle pictures among them.

I hope I haven't embarrassed you;) - I just like the sound of a chap who can go out shopping and come back with 5 pencils among his purchases....

Our Oxfam bookshop is good too - now that I have a wage, I could go in more often, although I may need to reinforce the floor....
