For any peeps wot has a case of Teh Snufflies, may I recommend these from your local Aldi.
I hesitate to name the drink, in this of all freds. They're rather nice, and contain alcofrolic goodness.
Quite a lot of it.

I'm worried about that tat. Under my influence, it's creeping across the forum. If it gets out of Cafe, we're all doomed.
Maybe it's time for a "What thimble?" thread in Know How...

I've got the cold too so maybe there's some truth in Arch's theory. Had a look at the Doc's 'medicinals' but I don't think that they will be on sale in Scotland so I might just have to drink whisky without c*ffee in it. Shame

Ah, well, in that case might I recommend my dad's patented fix for colds, flu and most things up to and including actual illness.
Put a slice of lemon in a glass that'll stand hot water.
Add a spoonful of honey.
Add hot water. Not boiling - on no account boiling.
Add a generous slug of cheap whisk(e)y.
Drink it near a fire.
Repeat as necessary.
Not one for the single malt, this. Tesco Value Scotch will be fine, especially after the first glass.

I have already taken some Ibuprofen for the Neddache, and some decongestant to help the nose, so perhaps whiskey is not a good idea. I will be partaking of hot choc instead.

Your recipe sounds like it would be nice at any time, under any circumstances. Well, perhaps not on a warm summer's evening.

Thank you. I have to be very careful that the virus does not progress and give me a nasty cough. Because I get asthma, it could take a long time to recover. Cough medicine is also off the agenda, as, for some reason, that makes my asthma worse.

oddly my dad has this recipe for colds- boil normal none diet coca cola in a pan until it's hot with a couple of slices of fresh ginger...to be frank no idea if it worked at all but I didn't mind it as a kid. However, my mums assortment of chinese medicine and soups was/is foul!

my sympathies Speich, have you got a hot water bottle knocking around, that might be nice and comforting as well as lots of nice food with plenty of fruit and veg in it
