Ever decreasing circles?

I have started reading "Calling All Shipping". Apparently some radio listeners were very cross when the BBC interrupted the commentary on the Cricket - some match being played in Australia - to go to the Shipping Forecast.

At Queen's house in Greenwich (where the author decides on his quest) the Major General (?) has very recently been dismissed.

Sounds fascinating Speich, I think I'd rather listen to the shipping forecast than cricket any day

Meant to be giving Henry a run around the living room but am trying to get out of it.
Time for tea I think, without biscuits for a change

How about a book on search and rescue, Speicher?
The Longest SAR, its a free pdf download.

I found it on The CatTrike Diaries website.

ooh, a fair bit of reading there.... I spotted that the Catrike people go to Bicyclettes de Hull Never before has the word bicylette been paired with such an unlikey placename!

I would prefer the shipping forecast to cricket. I was listening to it yesterday evening as I made dinner, and there were a lot of "gale 8, perhaps severe gale 9 later". It's often said, people listen to it in order to feel safe and tucked up warm indoors, while imagining the poor souls out in that....

And it's masterpiece of timing - no matter how much there is to say, it has to fit in the same time - Speicher, have you got to the bit where he goes in to watch it being read?

If I'm still awake at night, I enjoy the full extended version, with the coastal waters and weather stations. Sandettie Automatic is my favourite station name, and "Cape Wrath to Duncansby* Head including Orkney", my favourite inshore water area.

*Or sometimes, Dunnet's Head.

Who needs poetry?

I am still on the first chapter. Tonight's episode of Coast is about some of the more remote Islands, which is followed by a programme about Greenland. Something intelligent to watch. (instead of talking to Potsy) ;)

I am puzzled as to why Ianrauk's son is staying with you. Please try to not get him excited so soon before bedtime!

I wondered about that too!

Oh, and thanks for the PM - I'll browse that scrap store link after supper.

Mmm, I have a meat pie, which I will garnish with mash, and baked beans. Gourmet stylee. I think I won't botther trying to eat THAT with the chopsticks. I'me getting quite good - fusilli pasta was a good test last night. I start out ok, but the coordination slips as I go on, probably my fingers getting tired...

Just been out for a hot chocolate with Helen and Spandex, very nice. Although how you are supposed to eat the whipped cream with the little wooden stick, I dunno.

I have got Chicken Jalfrezi with brown and wild rice tonight. The curry is from Tesco's and very nice. I will be using a spoon. The only way I can cut meat is to do it standing up! I cannot get my left wrist in the proper position to just use two fingers and a thumb to hold the fork. I would never have guessed it would be so difficult.

My typing id ok though isnt it?

With you two not being into football you won't remember the Oldham Athletic song that went-
'Meat pie, sausage roll come on Oldham give us a goal'
