You are still travelling on that train then, must be a very slow train, will it take all night to get to your destination?

I seem to have bought the wrong ticket, and have ended up in Istanbul (was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul an it's nobody's business but the Turks')

A good trip, apart from some rumpus in the night when we all had to get up and stab some bloke.

Do you think you might have got on the Orient Express by mistake? Is it a lovely train, with plenty of time to look out of train windows, which I know you like to do. Is Hercule Poirot on the train with you? I am sure he could use his "Leetle grey cells" to work out what happened.

Either that or the wine you drank is much stronger than you thought, or someone put something in your After Dinner Co**ee.

Be very careful when those Border Guards get on the train. Remember that a corridor train is not always one that has corridors. It may mean it runs through a corridor without stopping.

Watch out also for those Travelling Ticket Inspectors, they can cause you a lot of problems. Do have a safe journey home.

Does your return journey bring you back via Budapest. You will be hungry when you get there. You could stop off for more Wien in Austria. Do Czech you have the right ticket when you are in Gmund.

Your return journey to England could take all night. Train timetables can be unpreditable on Sundays, if there are workings on line.

Take care, and lots of biscuit, have you got enough Tea?

I now have an image of Arch in a flowing white dress, searching a train for Miss Froy

* Tries to find the smilies for "sharp intake of breath" and "a smack round the ear" *

I think I may have seen a very old Video copy of the 1938 version, Spoty.

I prefer the Hercule Poirot one. An excellent film about espionage and double agents is "Narrow Margin". The newer one has Gene Hackman in it. I have a copy of the older version.

Ah,that's it, so easy to confuse the words 'Orient' and 'Transpennine' on a station display board...

Hercule couldn't come this time, so Miss Marple has been filling in. It meant the buffet car had better scones.

I'm on my way back now, by mule train, to connect at Geneva with a train to Paris, and thence Eurostar.

These adventures are so much easier when one only has virtual luggage.

I have tea, courtesy of Mehmet, the mule driver. I'll switch to hot chocolate once in Switzerland.

Wow, you must have powerful binoculars! Oh! You mean on telly?

Just had to stop to give my mule a carrot. It's getting tired going uphill all the time. We're going to put it on a skateboard when we reach the top of the pass.

I shall now attempt to record that Nice Cycling Race from Paris. While I go for a walk in the sunshine, to see the ducks and swans etc. Possibly followed by the procurement of something for pudding tonight.

If you cross from Switzerland into France late this evening, remember that the Basle still be open for more Beverages.

I have been to see the ducks and swans in Tatton Park today, was very nice to ride in the sunshine wearing my spring cycling outfit instead of all the winter gear

To keep the crime/detective theme going I am now watching Columbo
