Hello.
Just a minute.
<picks up tea tray and beats self around head with it>
Well, it saves me cricking my neck banging my head against the wall.
I ordered that book, the knitted dogs, off Amazon, along with a netbook sleeve. I figured both were letterbox sized, so gave my home address.
Got home to a card from Home Delivery Network.

Decide to change address to St Nicks.
Went online, could online reschedule (Not possible this week or weekend), or collect from the depot. In Hull. No option for change of address.
Rang up. Pressed a few buttons, got a person. Nice person, but she couldn't change the delivery address for me, I have to ring Amazon.

She did give me the number to ring.
Look up email, to find it's the book they've tried to deliver. Netbook sleeve to be dispatched separately.
Rang Amazon. Got a lady in, well, probably not UK. Quite hard to hear some of what she said. Explain. Change address for book. Also, can I change address for netbook sleeve please?
No.

Apparently because it's coming from 'Jersey Isle' (that rather proves the non-UK location of call centre), the address cannot be changed.

Not even if they try to deliver and fail, I can't alter the address. If I'm not in (and I won't be, unless they deliver very early or late), and I can't get to whatever depot it goes to, that's it, it goes back. I guess I don't pay for it then, but that's not the point. I want my thing!
OK, I ask, just about remembering to be polite - it's not her fault after all - can you tell me if it's coming by courier or Royal Mail? She tells me it's coming from Jersey, via something that sounded like Jersey Mail, but I couldn't hear properly.
If it's Royal Mail, no problem. The depot is just down the road, and open useful hours. If it's HDNL, or Sh1tty Link, I'm screwed.
One of the reasons I opted for my home address this time, was because of the delay over my netbook delivery, which was due to either the sender or the courier deciding that it didn't matter if they missed some address info (like, the company name) off the address label.
So, I've had it redirected to St Nicks, because I don't trust them to deliver to Velo Vision any more, if they can't get the address right. I know what'll happen, they'll try and deliver it at 7am, or after St Nicks has closed.
You know what? I like shops. You go in, you choose a thing, you pay, you leave. With your thing.
If only we had some sort of system in this country, some sort of state supported national system of parcel and letter delivery, that could find addresses, and deliver to them, and had a depot in every city and town, or a network of offices you could have it redirected too. You could buy little stickers to pay for postage, perhaps.
<bangs head with tray again>

Can I have some tea?
