Hello. It was WNRttP. We went up lots of hills. I nearly gave in and walked. Another 6 feet and I would have. And then down very long and steep hill. Must do it again in daylight so I can be brave and not grip the brake levers quite so tightly

I've done nearly 30 miles in 2 days without seing so much as a speed bump, never mind a bona-fide hill

Potsy, it might be time for you to get a new car, if you take two days to cover thirty miles. I calculate your car is travelling at about two miles an hour. You could cycle faster than that.

Out again today, done 18 miles in the sunshine. Off again soon for a few more miles at a leisuerely(Jo) type pace

My hack bike is up and running again now that I have sold the Marin. Had to give up on the long tail project for now just to have cycle transport.
Changed the front canti to V brakes so it does actually stop. Fitted a front mech so I have a few options on my gears. Added a set of Aldi torches so I have lights. Set up all the cables so things work properly. Changed the big knobbly 26x1.9 MTB tyres to 26x1.5 slicks from my trailer so I don't have the constant brrrrrrrr brrrrrrr as the knobbles rub on the chain stays. That involved changing six sets of tyres round to get the right tyres on the right wheels and then truing four wheels.
All I need now is a 26" rear rack and a set of new cables so that things work better and there isn't too much or too little cable in the wrong places.
Oh, and a comfy saddle.
I have decided that I will need to set up a wall mounted work station and tool rack in my hallway to work on the bikes. It will have to go in the hall as it is the best place for a bike garage.
Also I miss Granville. He has been holidaying in Norfolk all week with friends of mine who were a folding bike short for a cycle holiday. He might be back for this weekend, he might not, depends on how they feel.

By the way, I was writing stuff up for VV today, and one of the features was this Bike Shelf Available from a UK site (which I can't find now) for a mere £159.99. Two wood finish options. And only suitable for bikes with a horizontal cross bar. Bargain!

Aw, bless, he's having his holibobs. Reminds me of that film they used to show on Play School through the windows, of the huge shire dray horses that worked in London, but had a fortnight off in the summer. They showed them pulling a dray around the streets, and then being loaded into a horsebox, and driven to the countryside, and let out into a field, and they ran about kicking their heels up like foals.
I've just had a really lazy dinner. A leftover portion of pasta sauce, but I couldn't be bothered to cook pasta, so I had Smash. Yes, Smash, not even proper mash...

The week I'd been out for nearly an hour and done a whole 5 miles was the last straw, really.
I like the notion of a WNRtvCJ for the promised food and beers, but it could be a bit of a tall order...

I've love a go in a combine. One of my colleagues told me, when he was a kid, his grandparents had a house in the countryside, and at the bottom of the garden, beyond the hedge, was a very old rusty combine. It still had the key in it (cue The Wurzels), and he and his cousins used to sit in it and press the buttons, hopeful but also terrified, that it might start up!
