My sister rang to put Oli on to say thankyou for his dragon and stencils. He was more keen to tell me about their new big train track:

It's his Dad's Hornby set. Oli told me there was a fast engine, and it was called Tornado and the real Tornado was at York! He's getting a few different things conflated, I think, as the Hornby is Scotsman, but Tornado has been at York, getting a boiler repair (as has Scotsman, most of the time!)

Apart from his dragon, he also got a sword and shield knights outfit sort of thing, which he thanked me for, although I didn't actually give him that. It's easy to get confused when you are four and excited.

What a grown up looking boy!

Well, Tornado was once at York, so I suppose he's right.
Actually, it was more than once, I'm sure.

I'm fairly sure it was in the workshop last time I was there, having something fixed.

And he might have meant Mallard anyway. He's only 4.

That said, he told my sister the other day that he wants to be a paleontologist. And yes, he knows what a paleontologist is, she checked.

On the subject of trains ... Mother Dearest and a friend are coming for a brief visit on Monday on their way to Devon (better check beer, chocolate and cake levels for once they're gone, meep) and they want to go on the steam train while they're here

This morning I was extremely energetic, ten minutes a rowing machine, 45 minutes exercise in the fresh air by the river, then more rowing, recumbent bicycling, hand bicycling, and a go on the treadmill.

Now enjoying a cup of tea, before going to do some gardening. As it is Wednesday I have had a doughnut.

Please note, Potsy, that is rowing as in boating, not arguing. ;)

I'm tired just reading all that!

I've had a Danish pastry which was disappointingly dry

I also bought some flapjacks and biscuits for tonight's not-the-Exmouth-Exodus ride and transferred the flapjacks into a container so they don't get squished in my panniers. Unfortunately, the container I selected wasn't big enough so I scoffed found somewhere else to store the ones that didn't fit

After all that rowing and cycling how far did you get? Did you have to get the bus home?

I had a disagreement with a gentleman by the lockers today.

He apologised for getting in my way, and I retaliated saying I thought I was in his way.

I think you will find, Potsly, that technically, three people are required to be participating before it can be described as a riot.

Did you drive to work last night?

Lunchtime? Oops, I've not had breakfast yet, unless you count several lots of cups of caffeine. But I have been into town and back in the rain (which has now stopped, of course) to buy brake blocks. And I'm not feeling at all nervous about that forthcoming experiment, being a member of the if-I-touch-it-I'll-break-it club
