Been out on my offroad adventures again, just 15 miles this time.
Got a bit lost after trying a different path  then found a main road and headed the wrong way

Oh, and I fell off

Choccy milkshake to recover ;)

What you broke today Arch?

Yesterday I bought some new tyres for Granville as the old ones are completely knackered and the rear one was due to burst. I went to the local market and picked up a cheap pair of BMX 20x2.00 diamond pattern treaded tyres, the ones where the tread goes all the way round the sidewalls , why? I don't know.

It would seem from todays ride that I have bought very high rolling resistance tyres. They were hard work!

Tea's brewed.

That'll be good for you. People pay good money to sit on a gym bike at high resistance!

Ah, tea.

Potsy, I ain't broke nuffin. Yet.

I even bumped into an old acquaintance from Archaeology on the way home, who said she'd found a nice photo of me and a late friend the other day, and wished she knew my address to send it. So she does now!

I'm regressing for dinner. Beefburger, mash, and baked beans.

Night Train, after all your training, are you headed towards one of these?

It is from the thread about "South Lakes", in the Photo Gallery Section. But to find it you would need to go to their website, and click on the link for Norman's photos for the 27th August, or was it the 19th? It is the fourth picture down, with a caption about some people not being content with saddlebags or bar bags. As that is such a circuitous route, I have very naughtily copied and pasted the photo, but will delete it later from this thread.

Nah!

I'm going to upgrade Granville a little more though. Yesterday I fitted a previously broken LED Lenser head torch into Granville's old front lamp, stealth lighting.

I also have an eight speed Nexus hub that I have just done a quick fix on and I will get some spokes from Spandex to build it into the back wheel. I will need to get a smaller rear sprocket to boost my top speed I think.

Bet you're regretting losing all that extra padding now

Worked nicely.
Getting the back wheel (it's always the ruddy back, isn't it?) is a bit of a painus anus.
I got very tangled with the chain tensioning thingummy.

I was on my way home when I spotted a gaggle of folk looking over a railway bridge. I've seen them before, and reckoned they must be waiting for the Scarborough Special. So today I hopped off and hung about a bit:

Picture 0108.jpg

It's not a great picture, I only had my phone camera. I didn't catch the name or number of the loco, annoyingly. But it whistled as it passed under the bridge!

A little web research suggests it was The Scots Guardsman, and this was the last run of the season, so I chose my week to stop well!

And I got home to find that my sister had sent a couple of photos of Oli in his school uniform. He looks about 12!

(I mean that in a 'oh, how cute, but where's the little boy gone?!' sort of crying way)
