Bother!

I have been backing up my laptop to an external drive this afternoon. Copying files over, checking they have copied, and then deleting the ones on the laptop.

Having moved all the important ones and updated folders I inadvertantly sent my whole 'My Pictures' folder to the Recycle Bin.
What's made it worse is that the Recycle Bin wasn't big enough to take the whole folder and so it has just been deleted, the whole thing is gone!

Fortunately any important images were already backed up and I was just tidying up the miscellaneous ones, but about 50 or so nice photos have been lost.

Oh well, tea in a bit and then a cycle ride to the hospital.

You should leave the original files on the laptop as copying to an external drive then deleting the orig files is not backing up as they then become the only copy and those external drives are just as likely to go down as the one in your laptop, always have at least 2 copies of your files.

I have two back ups on two external drives. Two copies on each drive in case I accidently loose soemthing so there are four back ups on two drives. Usually I keep very little on the laptop but have been a bit slow in sorting out the back ups recently.

Good glad to hear it.

I get to see alsorts in my job (run my own computer business) and you can always tell the ones that do regular backups by the look on their face when they tell you the hard drive has gone down and can I get back their data and you ask did you back it up

Boiling hot here today, and I was triking. A nice lady came out and gave me a glass of apple juice.

And we have a new bridge over the Foss, which makes my ride home about 25% virtually traffic free, and about 70% nicer.

Also, there was some sort of sit-in outside the York Press offices. I reckon they must have run a story that was unfair to swans...

Wow I have never seen swans out of the water. Pete and I saw this family two days ago when we were going feeding a friends cat.

Swans out of water = bad news. The ones on Taunton canal do *not* like cyclists using the path and get very cross

This morning's ride turned into an all-dayer, which came as a bit of a shock to my legs and the dog, who let me know what she thought of being abandoned for the day by sleeping on my rucksack. It's now very flat and hairy.

I've eaten lots of cake today. And biscuits. And more cake. :hungry:

Anyone for tea? Or lemsip?

It was funny how everyone was stepping off the pavement to walk round them. They were having the same effect as a gang of hoodies!

Good news.

The hospital say I haven't had a stroke or got a brain tumour.:wahhey:
I have had a balance problem and some other minor health issues which have been made many times worse by the stress the college put me under last academic year.
It seems many of my symptoms are due to the college far more so then my illness.
The consultant says I should get well away from the college, which I already have, and to keep on cycling!

Celebratory cup of tea I think.
