Used to live just outside of Stamford, in Wittering but didn't cycle much then.

Stamford used to be my stomping ground & sometimes Peterborough too.

Enjoyed going to watch the Posh as I didn't go home much, even if they were dire at times.

They aren't much better now are they? The ride started at Peterborough College and went out past the ground. It's a ground I have never been to and need to get it in one day.
We stayed a couple of nights in a Travelodge in the city centre. The centre was ok, the same as any other city, but I do remember a lot of eastern european accents.

 ;)

on a serious note though Choo Choo & others, I've been considering a lower end turbo from Elite (couldn't tell you which model).

Are there any that can be recommended & is it a faff changing back wheels over etc ?

What might I find annoying about turbo's ?
The most annoying thing about a turbo is the possibility of terminal boredom. This annoyance can be eliminated by using the turbo for structured training and doing something like watching a video if doing a steady ride. I've learned most of my Greek while doing steady riding on my turbo.

My turbo workouts are done at a pace that induces a great deal of sweating so I have a large fan sitting in front of the bike!

Me too, regardless of it being in a rotting shed with windows falling out and the door open in all weathers. Roof was solid though, so not directly getting rained on. Definitely towel on handlebars (don't buy one of those 'sweat protector' things for silly money..);)

I use an old cotton T-shirt to protect the bike. I also have a towel - for me!!

Thought I might watch DVD's of the TdF or Giro etc, or maybe the Ladies Nude Table Tennis Championships..
