Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Anyone recommend a good coffee machine/make or advice on which to avoid ?

I fancy treating myself in new year sales to some good coffee at home.

Those cartridge type ones any good ?
The refills/cartridges etc seem a little expensive but would limit myself to 2 'good cups' a day & instant for the rest.

Ask @stephec. He is the expert

 ;)

on a serious note though Choo Choo & others, I've been considering a lower end turbo from Elite (couldn't tell you which model).

Are there any that can be recommended & is it a faff changing back wheels over etc ?

What might I find annoying about turbo's ?

Have you an old wheel you can just drop in for the turbo, or if you aren't planning on using the bike on the road over winter use an old tyre. You could buy a special turbo tyre but an old one is a cheaper option. I used to find the tyre would tend to get a flat spot on it, and if it was fairly new, you are spoiling a good tyre there.
You get very hot and could do with a fan to cool you down depending where you are using it. It is handy to buy a sweat mat you stretch from your bars to your seat post, to stop sweat getting on your top tube, assuming it's a nice bike and you don't want sweat ruining your frame.
I have an elite fluid turbo, but after looking at the current range, it must have ceased production for a newer model some time ago.
I still maintain I find the rollers more fun due to the fact you have to concentrate, turbos offer far more resistance, but you can just sit there and pedal. It's up to you how you use it and what you get out of it.

I would be interested to hear what people say about this. There was an offer a while ago in the local Asda with those Tassimo coffee makers that you buy the pods for. I did consider it but thought knowing Asda they would stop stocking the pods and I would end up with a machine with no pods or on a mission to source some more.
I would like to know what the coffee they make tastes like compared to one of the high street coffee shops?

I should think they would be a bit expensive to use. I'd prefer the ones where you use pre ground coffee and make a pot full. I used to have a coffee percolator. I loved it. Stephec prefers a gaggia.
