Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Each to his or her own folks. What suits one, wont suit another. Good for you @Blue .

The weather here is total cac. I ride for fitness, fun and a little bit of TT competition. During winter the fun of riding outdoors and TT competition disappear. I can maintain fitness on a turbo so I see little point in going out.

Unlike many, I enjoy turbo use. I can do specific interval work 2/3 times a week and even on steady riding days I do some Greek study while chugging along - both types of session keep the insanity inducing aspect of turbo use at bay for me. I know it wouldn't suit a lot of folk, but then that is no concern of mine!!

As Mrs D says each to their own. You do what suits you, I would much rather try to get out and ride even if it might only be 30 miles, but I feel far better doing that.
I have a turbo and have used it like a lot of people when the weather prevents me from going out, but I bought a set of rollers off someone and I do find riding them very enjoyable. They certainly teach you how to control a bike and help you to improve your pedalling action. It is amazing how much you control your bike via your hips because the slightest change can be felt riding the bike.

Get out, man..
The Bawb was out in the occasionally really wet stuff, E wind in his dip, pitch dark and 17 in the pocket at the end:thumbsup:

I'm on drugs which require I don't eat for an hour after taking so rather sit and drool at the cooking smells wafting up the stairs..oot I go..

oh and good evening to all you scallywags:thumbsup:
I used to go out in all weathers but I no longer see any point to it. I get maximum return from what I do on my bikes and don't have a need to seek anything more.

2014 has been a good case in point for me. For the first time ever I spent 100% of the winter indoors and then got out on my TT bike as soon as the weather inproved. My club make Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for its TT competition with qualification for the awards being average speed over the club 25, 10 and 5 mile courses (which are anything but drag strips). Gold is 25mph+, Silver is 24mph+ and Bronze is 22.5mph+. I have always got a Silver award and this year I became the first man in his 60's to get an award above Bronze with my usual Silver. In other words I still managed my primary aims of fun, fitness and a little competition without having to bother with mixing with traffic in all kinds of sh;tty weather.

What I do wouldn't suit everyone but then I only need to suit myself, which I do.

I hope you enjoy your outdoor winter cycling. However, I won't be joining in.
