So not the horrible cassette types thenThe tapes cost around £40 each. About twice as wide as a cassette tape, but smaller overall.

because we knew you'd be along to talk about bringing up the rear sweetie....Evening all.
I'm now ensconced in a hotel near Trinity College, I can see a rather nice looking bar from my window.
And when it comes to this forum ride and ogling, why hasn't there been a like it at the rear joke?![]()

Yep that'll do me. I think I can keep up with most as long as it's flattish and less than twenty milesOk kids, Pop Quiz: If the Tea Thread were on a forum ride how do you imagine that would go?
I reckon out in front would be: @172traindriver (tutting at how slow we all are), closly followed by @BrianEvesham, @the_mikey, @SteCenturion and @IDMark2 in the peleton.
Then you would have a group of "ladies" showing no discipline whatsoever, cycling all over the road and chatting: @ScotiaLass @welsh dragon @Turdus philomelos @Lullabelle @Saluki
Two Fat Lads at the Back: @Bobby Mhor and @Fubar ignoring each other, obviously.
Then bringing up the rear - Dear Old @classic33 with his sandals and scythe, muttering to himself about the old days and yorkshire puddings.
Thoughts?

I'd be more likely to be having yet another photo stop, sometimes for ages, flapjack break or drinks slurp than trying to keep up with anyone. In fact I see it as a duty to not record any facts and figures about my rides now, I'm well beyond being picked up for a race team, don't need to prove or test myself against a clock and just want to enjoy riding a bike at my pace and do what I like, when I like. For me that is the appeal now although I recognise that everyone has different thinking.Ok kids, Pop Quiz: If the Tea Thread were on a forum ride how do you imagine that would go?

We used to dump sales data from our tills down to tapes, cassette at first and then a new data type. Then we'd take it upstairs to the office to be read into the main computer... This is obviously before the days of wireless, or even wired, data transfer between machines. The tape readers were about £1000 each, we had three, early eighties I think it was.No, not the cassette type tapes. Proper industrial class storage.
