Yes ,Swallows and Swifts here now, Chiff Chaffs and first Cuckoo heard on my walk yesterday.

That is a great sight to see a Red Kite where they are not too common.

Yep, first one here in my ..ahem...over 45 years...
Soon got over my excitement seeing them when we visit Father In Law in Cardigan, the route through Brecon we take sometimes passes the feeding centre at Gilgrin Farm where there are upwards of 50 of them circling around near feeding time. (To my mind this has become more about the money to be made from tourism than supporting a fledgling population of a rare breed, but that's just an opinion) It may be that competition for food has forced the birds gradually outwards from there.

Morning all
A busy day for me. I washed the bike yesterday, first time in a week, so have to lube her up and tighten/adjust a few things - I'm using the MTB for the Belles ride this evening so she needs to be all shiny
I ordered foam grips for the butterfly bars on the hybrid the other day, so they should be here soon
In the meantime I shall be catching up on some housework and already have washing on, and 3 loads to fold from the past couple of days - it's all piled up as I've been busy with other things

My hoover went bang a few days ago but I now have another, so time to give it a good testing!
And I think I'll do a bit in the garden as it's so nice.

I can see your point about the commercial side of it, but the positive of it is as you say, competition for food is probably forcing the birds to spread in a search for food.
So the positive of this is that the population is spreading and to see those magnificent birds is great. I wish they would become a regular sight in Worcestershire.
Just look at the buzzard population and how that is thriving which is brilliant. Only downside is they aren't very bright and are slow and I must have hit at least half a dozen over the last few years in the train.
They come down for the stuff we hit like pigeons and pheasants and just can't get out the way in time like the crows and magpies.

We have lots of red kites here. It's nice to see them. We get buzzards, sparrow hawks, barn owls and loads of other birds. We get woodpeckers as well although they are very skittish.

When did they start the Easter break Bobby? After Easter?
The ones down here seemed to have 2 weeks with the Easter weekend sandwiched in the middle of the break.
I left Mallorca on Monday 30th March and we noticed that there were families appearing in the hotel whereas before it was just cyclists

Yeah was just over two weeks she was off..
Can't remember the dates...
anyhoo..
off out for a quick 10 mile as I've stuff to do later..

Morning everyone, relentless sun today and working in Leamington Spa

That's Royal Leamington Spa (as my sister & BIL keep reminding us) they lived there for a bit after Uni.

yep - know that one here, but I was working on the fact that my route takes me off down roads that schools and mums wont be doing initially. At least my reverse route does which is what I am doing all of this week. I just wish this 3hrs of exercise a day was having some affect on my weight! (2 of cycling plus the walking in the evening!) I do seem to be putting muscle on on my legs again, but the weight does not seem to be shifting yet at least not according to the scales this morning! Well they did say 500g lighter but...

Don't get down over weight, especially if you feel you have added muscle.

I used to do a lot of weights in my 20's for rugby & vanity & put about 1st 6lb on, muscle weighs more than fat so could be good news.

Morning all... another day of tidying jobs... today the driveway gets it - a pressure wash that is - and a rotting raised bed to be removed, borders weeded and turned over, a new tent tested, a load of rubbish to be transported (again)... phew. Coffee first of course.
A first for me down here in Devon yesterday... a Red Kite sighted over my house, being mobbed by Rooks. Reported sighting to RSPB as a really unusual sight this far south, I see loads up in Cerdigion of course... apologise for picture quality, it was high and I had to run inside to grab a camera, no time to change the lens to the telephoto!
