Council using shovels, no chance. Too much hard work instructing them how to safely use one(Four A4 sheets per person to be filled in!), let alone letting them loose with one
Intensive training to lean on one needed for all employees....
I once needed a security halogen bulb,
I could walk a quarter mile round trip to buy one..at 50p (it was the 80s).
no, I had to phone in the details, it was passed on to one of the secretaries who took it to a boss to rubber stamp the buying of said item, I'd get a chitty sent up by van to go get it..
then get van to take me down to another preferred supplier at a higher cost then get taken back and dropped off, call for an electrician to then come fit it....
I could have bought, fitted in 30 mins max..

They make the blades(snow shovel), too light to lean on though.

Best part was showing them a stack and saying "take yer pick". The number who said they wanted a shovel, and meant it, never ceased to amaze.

Well with summer "just around the corner", thought I'd get some practice in.

No snow yet?
No, although the forecast is sleety showers. We had heavy snow this time last year. Hoping it stays away this year.
