Ouch. No lasting damage I hope.

new helmet was a write off. hoods were bent. odd graze and cuts along the left side of my face & head where it impacted on the ground. left knee took a hell of a smash and lost a load of skin just below the knee cap. Left shoulder took a hell of a bash also it of blood but just bruised now. slightly deep graze on my right hand where my thumb is. The odd light scuff and bruise here and there but Im healing very quickly and should be fairly OK to start commuting again when my holiday finishes this thursday.

My Castelli jacket/jersey has little holes where my shoulder hit the ground  Price of that is back upto around £160'ish now but I think i paid about £100 for it or something during the sales...

I was barely able to lift anything with my left arm without my shoulder hurting for the last two days but the pain has pretty much gone now.

Luckily it was the ground that i hit and not a chunk of steel that hit me from the side or rear otherwise i wouldn't of got off so lightly.

::EDIT::

On a side note - I bought just a speed sensor for my Garmin Edge last week during ebays 20% off hoohaa. I paid £25 for it. but the merchant sent me along a cadence sensor along with it too and which has save me another 20 odd quid so I guess my luck is looking up a little.

Any helmet having taking impact, would be a write-off. I go no further than that, here.

Tell me about it.

When i told the guy down at my LBS about it he told me he would start wearing one from now on!!

When my dad turned up to pick me up on the night of the tumble, I didnt care so much that my bike was damaged and that i was injured but that my expensive helmet was no longer fit for use and i would have to fork out more money this time to replace it (average price between £89-100. I managed to get it for £60 because of 'first-order' discount from ProBikeKit) Ultimately... Anything that protects your head from impacting on the tarmac & causing you more damage is money well spent now matter how much you choose to spend. I still have my Giro Savant so i guess im back to using that for now.

clothing and helmets can always be replaced

Good afternoon everyone.

Well, I have been busy at work, O.T & busy/in demand on the For Sale thread too, which is good.

Long shift today & at least a couple of Cycle Chatters to meet with ref gear sales this week.

Half an hour of my life lost queueing in the P.O this morning but got the job done ... e - ven - shoe - Ali.
You don't meet any(employee's) on your journey's that could take them for you?

Great news @RoubaixCube

So your insurance has stumped up ?
&
Do you use a cycle specific insurer or just household insurance?

Sorry to be nosey, just wondering 'what if' for myself re insurance.

Good to hear you are essentially OK & recovering nicely.

Not had a chance to call them yet., been busy doing house work! Im insured with protectMyBubble though im wondering if insuring through BC is cheaper. I costs me £7 p/m anyway so im not fussed.

For the most part we are loan workers,
& sometimes might not go near a particular area for weeks or at the wrong time for instance.

Logistically it is hard work in my job as I am a field worker & have little access to the usual niceties of office life etc.

So far the folks who have wanted my stuff have been very flexible & nice to deal with.

Long may it continue.

Called the insurance and was told there wasnt a 'bike agent' available that i could speak to......

Not off to a good start at all

I did manage to strike a deal with my LBS in the end so they only charged me £20 for a job that should have cost me £40 if not more so Im not too fussed about that.... I do want that helmet replaced though but I dont think im going to get it as the insurance only covers the bike

Try your home contents insurance, if you have any, as there may be personal effects away from home covered under standard cover or All Risks section. Depends on the cover sections, definitions and exclusions though.
