I have. I worked for a plant hire place and drove dumper trucks, road rollers, mini diggers, big diggers and all sorts.

When I was waiting to unload in Lowestoft yesterday evening, the fog rolled in over the delivery yard..
It was quite ethereal, listening to 'Dark Side of the Moon' blasting out of the stereo, with the central heating gently purring away under the cab, unable to see further than the skips against the far wall!

A quick Q for @172traindriver , when the weekend works commence, and everyone has to transship to busses and coaches from the trains, do you have to lock the train up and drive the coach and passengers to the next station or do other people do that?

No mate rail road replacement buses are nothing to do with us, they will be sourced by the train operating company and will operate the service.
One of our former and occasional good friends @BrianEvesham was driving these several months ago and if I remember correctly it was for Chiltern when the Banbury re-signalling works were taking place. If he pops up he will probably tell us more.
From our point of view if there are engineering works and line closures we often get amended workings which can result in a number of us being spare which is good as we get out of work. But tend to try to help our colleagues in doing a bit for them and letting them have extra breaks.
