Good job you're not paying yourself by the hour then!
What would the hourly rate be?

Scaffolder, roofer or general labourer? What would the hourly rate be?![]()
Think of the money you're losing, not paying yourself!!Every slate has to be fetched from a stash in the stinging nettles, scraped clean both sides to remove the ants eggs and the soil they bring up with them plus the plants that have started to grow in that soil, re-holed, then stacked on the scaffold. Three hundred year old slates are pretty friable, so each has to be inspected carefully to see if it is fit for use, then carried up the roof for laying. They're all nominally 1 foot by 2 foot, but can vary in length by over an inch, meaning some don't work with the gauge of the batten and need trimming. Then there are the cuts at the top of the roof, and the LHS. It's a slow job. It doesn't much matter, as I don't count my time . It'll be done when it's done, then I'll do something else.
