Hi.
Did you bring the rain back with you:whistle:
That's less of a joke than you might think.

Cyprus has just had it's wettest winter in decades. They had a funny old January/February when it seemed to be a repeating pattern of a couple of days sun followed by a couple of days thunderstorms. As they went into March and April there was more glorious sunshine than rain but even on our last day we got both. Never witnessed anything like it there. It was like an Irish summer - warmish but wet!

You are getting the blame then..

How do you get through passport control then?
By proving that you reside, full time, in the UK. Holidays aside.

I was wondering that myself, as the only way to prove you don't need a passport is by proving you have UK citizenship, which surely requires a passport.

Maybe it's the cowl and the scythe...

I don't get what Mr Classic is on about.
If you come back into the UK from abroad, you have to go through passport control i.e. show your passport otherwise they wont let you back into the country.
There is also a slight problem when abroad, to get on a mode of transport to get back to the UK you have to show your passport to be allowed to leave.
I think our friend is talking in riddles

A person who has been out of the country for less than two years, does not need entry clearance at the border before resuming their residence in the UK

Explain to me how you would get past the passport control in Birmingham airport for example?
Also how would I get onto the plane in Palma for example?
Passport required for leaving the country, not coming back home.

Air carriers were behind the use of passports, as a means of ID, which has just exploded from there.

If you can prove permanent residency in the UK, your passport is only another means of proving you're you, not someone else

My memory of glancing at the boarding area notice in Cyprus is that you are correct. I seem to recall a list of useable ID documents, although I didn't pay much attention as I was using my passport.
