Owdo

And to think, you knocked my choice of music. There's one about "Kevin" by Youknow Who, before he was about.

Morning??

G'day all :hello:

Been working on the smallest bedroom, Washed down the walls and ceiling then rinsed. Stood back and thought - we'll have to do it again - all those years of grime is hard to shift but the room/window frame go from yellow to white! On a break now. When the main refurb is over we'll redecorate but this will do for a while.

Trying to keep Mrs B occupied and working around her makes everything take twice as long as it should. Still, it'll be worth it.

I love me some bluegrass...
and some country (the old stuff)...

Got drookit today, last five miles in rain,
jeez, I was a dripping mess..
Kentucky?

Dry but windy at times down here.
Even managed to get some sunshine AND clear blue skies.

You saved on the washing though.

T'weren't tobacco smoke you were shifting?
What colour were water when you'd finished with it.

Can you give her a promotion to Site Supervisor.

Oh yes, I think cigarette smoke was involved. We are just taking one room at a time and it will be a slog,

When we went in there wasn't much of a smell at all, certainly less than when we viewed. I cleaned the window in the room where we were to work with neat white vinegar on kitchen roll and it came away a sort of orange/brown colour so it let me know what we were dealing with. The neighbours had already told me that the lady was a smoker so I knew there would be a nicotine/tar element to the grime.

Despite that we came away thinking the place is great and will be fabulous when we get it refurbed and decorated so we were happy. I think we can enjoy being there while the work is done around us.

I imagine the lockdown situation will delay us getting things done but once we have the place clean the state of repair is fine for the moment.

Mrs B as site supervisor, um, I can't see that! We spent the day working there and tonight she asked if we had been to the house today - it's that bad. She can enjoy the place in the moment but after that moment it's lost to the sands of time. I'm sure the moving from one place to the other is confusing for her so I'll be happier when the main cleaning is done and the furniture is in so that we can stay put while the cleaning/work continues and she is better anchored. As you know we have spent several weeks walking around the outside of the property and the general area - despite that she expressed surprise that this was the house we had bought! In a way, it's all very sad but I hope that I will bring her joy as we settle in. I just hope that our own sale doesn't fall through at the last moment as I want the cash to cover the costs quickly.

On another bright note, I was taking a drink/breather on the driveway this afternoon and spotted yet another neighbour so I walked down and introduced us to her and her daughter. Once again, seemed lovely people. It does seem to be a lovely area.^_^

If the windows were bad, the roof in the same room may need pre-treating prior to painting.

Don't "site supervisors" have the job of telling you you're not working fast enough.

The way you're going there'll be no new neighbours to meet once you move.
