believe it or not I found an old cardboard tube of ajax under the sink - it had never been opened and the metal bottom left rust on the shelf! Works very well!

Tonight I got a spray of flash with fairy liquid to see if that's any good for cutting through the grime.

One way or another, we'll get the job done well enough to enable us to move in. We can, of course, carry on cleaning once we're in and having the contractors in to plan the refurb.
Wilkinsons/Wilko's do a bike cleaner that's good at heavy cleaning.

A mix of a cheap washing powder and washing up liquid is another one worth trying.

You considered a steam cleaner, for the harder parts?

'Morning all :hello:

After a night with a little light sleet we are dry but :cold: here in Bangor. The Belfast and Antrim hills have another light dusting of snow and this time it seems to be just about down to sea level.

Been doing a little admin this morning - arranging phone/broadband transfer and submitting a gas reading for the new place etc. Some things will require a letter so I'll type one later(stamps already bought).

Owdo

We'd a freezing fog that worked it's way down the valley. Could be seen approaching and leaving. No snow though.

A "little admin"!
You got envelopes for the letters?

Morning??

Yes, plenty of envelopes^_^

We'll be heading over to do some 'real' work soon:smile:

That comment about the fog reminded me of a 'summer' fell run I competed in years ago. I was in the high hills running along an open ridge between 2 peaks and could see 'weather' moving up the valley to my RHS but thought I'd be off the ridge before it hit. I was wrong and I was soon getting lashed by pea sized hail that was hitting so hard I thought my skin was splitting. I looked for a rock outcrop and literally dived in behind it so that I could get my wet gear out before setting off again. The next day I had bruises all up my right side. It was unreal because the race started in a carpark and we were all slapping on the sun cream before we set off because the sun was splitting stones!

The race was the Annalong Horseshoe and this image grabbed from the Web may be a runner on that ridge

Good to hear, more often than not it's no stamps that cause the problem.

At least you'd wet weather gear to put on, not just sit it out.

Morning:hello:
YU2

Road, pavements a sheet of ice, black ice..
Bin lorry slid by earlier, felt for poor operatives sliding all over the place, the lowest temp of the night combined by a shower at the same time didn't help, I'd imagine...
Typical as someone has some shopping to do, I did say yesterday about it but nay..

25 to go plus?
I'm sure I'll find a few..

Because...

You went out and had a shower, in the middle of the night!!
The neighbours will be wondering now.

Hydration supplies included, or have you sufficient in.

They get used to slip sliding away, in time.

The local rules required runners to carry a basic kit in case of injury or bad weather rolling in.

I recall another long distance fell run called the Spelga Skyline that had quite a few peaks to climb. At, roughly, the half way point the course crossed a road and an official stopped the runners there and asked a couple of questions while taking a good look at you. If the official wasn't happy with you you were pulled from the race. Anyways, the race ended with a drop off the final peak before climbing a ditch and getting over a wall before a final few yards along a road to the finish. I got one leg over the wall and was so exhausted that I couldn't move. There I was straddling the wall until I heard movement behind me and the competitive spirit kicked in. I just lurched off the wall and waddled my way to the finish - I didn't lose my place!!

About a year after those races I wrecked my L Knee in an accident so had to quit running. Then came cycling and that's a whole different ballgame - helped my knee though!
