'Morning folks :hello:

Well, the snow has gone and it's a mild day today. Just as well that the weathers improved as one the bedroom windows is out and the new frame is in. The WC and pedestal are out of the bathroom. The place looks and sounds like a building site!

The plumber said the seal on the WC was completely perished and he didn't know how it wasn't leaking so the job is just being done in time!

I have to say that the guys are great as they just get stuck in. When I had a new bathroom and gas heating put in to the old apartment the guys were only on site 1/2 the day due to turning up late, leaving early and disappearing during the day.

I'll be glad when I get to this time next week though as Mrs B's Day Care centre has been closed due to staff shortages and then Easter so it's been hectic for me. Roll on a quiet time, until the next upheaval(kitchen)!!
Is it me or do some tradesmen look as if they can just turn up when they feel like it?, days after they have arranged.
If I was to turn up for something on a date and time, I'd turn up.

Owdo

Mid afternoon now!
Mid evening..

It's not just you. Once took the best part of five months to replace a gas fire. Turning up when he felt like it.
Insurance had paid him up front so what did he care.

Honest review left on the company website was there three days.

Unless it was something beyond their control, why should you pay them for not being there, not working.

Late evening

Well, we have a working toilet . Maybe I'll pee in the bath anyway - just for the heck of it!

Kitchen window/door and bathroom pedestal go in tomorrow, and the bath comes out on Friday. I think the plan is to give the bath a good whack so that it breaks - should be fun.

Mrs B's Day Care starts again tomorrow so I'll get a little break.

Things are moving in the right direction - even if we won't have a working shower until Mon/Tues.

And you'll have a wash in the toilet?

Chisel between hammer and bath, localise the pressure, and it's an unspectacular cracking. Or a larger hammer on the curved sections.

Just set your hosepipe up outside whilst you wait for the shower to be ready for use.

G'day folks. :hello:

Well, a little bit of progress today.

The plumber came and lifted more of the bathroom floor, looked at the pipes and then drove away to the builders merchants - not seen since!

The old kitchen door/window is out and the new frame is in place. The fitter found that the brickwork had been damaged by the fitters of the old door so he too has gone off to get whatever fixings he needs to ensure a stable fit. Luckily the weather is staying dry so far.

The old door/window in the kitchen was leaching tar etc from the old lady's smoking and when the fitter was breaking the frame he said it was like treacle inside - lovely. Just shows what people breathe into their lungs when they smoke.xx(

Afternoon! Getting fed up of these perishing winds :cold:
We've spent the morning hearing (and seeing) blue bins falling over..
and of course, the council are happy to post, they are running behind but just to leave your bin on the pavement, more than a few have been horizontal, a bag of compost sits atop ours..
I've been out more than a few times...
picking up plastic..
Beag thought it hilarious watching milk cartons et al blowing up then back down the street..
the wind is now picking up further so more fun to ensue..
Oh well..
the Basque Tour is on soon, one of the exciting ones...
don't fancy those hills though..

My first ever experience of a smoke free pub was down from you in Courtown (well, a fair bit down the coast:laugh:)
What a difference..
the following year it came into force in Scotland,
all the 'it'll shut down the pubs etc, etc.
It did open your nose to other 'smells' the smoke hid..

Imperial sized pipes?
Even the metric imperial adaptors are hard get hold off, let alone the imperial adaptors.

You don't think they're all meeting in a pub somewhere, wondering how they got inside.

If you've an open fire, it should burn well.

One day, two delays, isn"t too bad.

Yeah, I think the pipes are imperial.

Both guys have been back at the jobs for about an hour and they seem to be going well again. The new floor section is going down in the bathroom but I'll be surprised if we get the pedestal in today.
