My first ever experience of a smoke free pub was down from you in Courtown (well, a fair bit down the coast:laugh:)
What a difference..
the following year it came into force in Scotland,
all the 'it'll shut down the pubs etc, etc.
It did open your nose to other 'smells' the smoke hid..

What can be produced after a few beers with nuts and crisps is quite surprising :laugh:xx(

Yeah, I think the pipes are imperial.

Both guys have been back at the jobs for about an hour and they seem to be going well again. The new floor section is going down in the bathroom but I'll be surprised if we get the pedestal in today.
Any not changed within the last 25 years will be metric imperial sizes(121/2mm - 13mm. Older than that and you've a good chance of imperial sized pipe's.

They might surprise you yet. You were contemplating the bath yesterday.

After tonight, it looks like we will be washing at the kitchen sink for the best part of another week as the delay will be getting the tiles done.

Tonight is the last night of the bath and I'm not looking forward to getting Mrs B washed at the sink - it was tough going to get her to cope with a shallow bath last night(had to be shallow as she tends to splash water everywhere and I didn't want to soak the untiled walls and floor)!

The last 24hrs have not been good, and I think the next few days will be worse!

Can you not get her washed using a bowl(And I don't mean throwing the water over her!). She'd be seated at least.

I was thinking more the loos....
I worked at a small bingo hall in the 70s and you could see the smoke hanging like a cloud at the ceiling, jeez, the seethe in that place, I ran a d checked the 'up' with the caller and on my way back, 'who was it?' then bitchy comments aplenty and win the Snowball at your own risk if you weren't a regular.....(there was an up and downstairs), I'll give kudos to anyone who can watch 6 books at a time...

Some 45-50 years back I used to drive my mum and her mates to bingo, and then collect them afterwards. They were forever trying to coax me to play - one week I had nothing better to do so went in. I won the snowball that had been running for a few weeks - they never tried to get me in again:laugh:

Well, I got her in to the bath with less grief tonight so that'll do for day care tomorrow. Then, she isn't back at day care until Tuesday do I'll let her be until Monday night. After all, a weekly bath did us when we were kids!

If I start to pong a cold shower with the garden hose will do me.

Good to hear on the bath front.

Hosepipe on standby then. With window opening on the list.

A runner in a bingo hall is not something I can imagine you doing for very long.

You had your stab vest on when you were there presumably.
Daggers in your back.

More like cast iron pants

Wed and Sat even, £5 a night, not bad money in the 70s TBH
I even got to call:laugh:

You'd be the talk of the place, visual daggers winging their way...
It was a tough life as a twenty something amongst that lot:laugh:
not as bad as getting sent to the rope store in the ropeworks, we had to go in twos and even that was dodgy:laugh:

Even funnier was on the football buses for away games, example, coming back from Aberdeen, over a three hour journey, no stops and no chippy as they wanted back for the 9 o'clock bingo in the supporters club, they literally played for pennies. But no, driver post haste...like my Auchterarder chippy and still do...

Owdo
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, noisy buggers. It'll probably chuck it down later.

If you want to relive those days blue has a cast iron bath being smashed today. I'm sure he can save you an insert if needs be.

Three hours, with no chippie!
That's barbaric, borderline inhuman. All so they could get back for their game. You ever think of holding a game on the coach. Make a bit of money for yourself in the process.

Morning??

You'll have been popular that night on the way home.

Did they still use you to get them there and back afterwards?
