The only way to get anything anything from a chicken is just to eat it. Chickens do not lay eggs.
That's that age old question put out to roost then.

You'll not know till you try. Put some chicken feed in a bag, with a hole in it, the next time the young un's wandering down to see them.
You'd work for a dollar a day, and now chicken feed "back in the day".

Could always tell when we were having chicken for dinner, one of us had to hold the outhouse door shut from the outside. The axe having previously been placed in there. Squawking/clucking then a shout to open the door. Often to the sight of a headless chicken running past.

You're having a party, you never said anything beforehand.

Nothing old about it. Hens lay eggs which produce chickens which eventually turn into hens or cockerels.:angry:
Hen, female chicken, lays eggs
Cock, male chicken, let's you know when to get up
And there's a third sort, can't seem to make it's mind up. Tries it's luck with another hen. Disrupts laying, keeps the cock awake. Never seems to stay around long. Usually the first for the chop.

A hen is not a female chicken. A chicken is a teenager as opposed to a hen which is a mature bird.

At least I know the difference between a chicken and a hen...
