OwdoGood morning
Another sunny start here in Bobsville...
And you plan on spending the middle of the day watching the cycling.
OwdoGood morning
Another sunny start here in Bobsville...
They'd just be course hazards, very little work required on your part.Nah, too lumpy and bumpy..
I could spend time and get it to the standard needed.
The old joke was about building the perfect green, making it so far from Mon -Thurs, and letting the greenkeeper turf it on a Fri afternoon after a few beverages. Never tried that though...
I spent one winter on a golf course; the rest of the time was in bowling greens....and cooncil footy parks.
Jeez, bowlers could fair moan....(lawn bowlers)
but gullible..
I was getting the usual, 'not running true' 'bit bumpy' etc etc so I wheeled out the big mofo roller and left on the side of the green..
'greens running well since you rolled it', 'running great now'..
I only wheeled it out, I never rolled the green..
Moaners? jeez, never a bowlers fault, always the green.
Shower of fandangos..
Day of rest I think...
Bike race? 10.00 I think...
I'll check later.
Mrs M has been informed..
to think that'll work? pfft..
They'd just be course hazards, very little work required on your part.
Just think what you might have done had you taken them up on their offer. Now we'll never know.
Similar on the bowling green that were near me. At one time the best kept green in the borough, three gardeners with "spirit level" lawns helping keep it. And visiting teams always moaning, blaming their poor efforts on the green.
Agree on the shower part.
Thinking could hurt yer head in this heat...
Did it start as planned, on time?
How'd she react to you informing her of yer intentions.
It might!

Ooop early to sawmill with middle child...
Glad to get back and,
a 'snell' wind out there....
They all say that though...The green i looked after was one of the best in the area
Always found the biggest moaners were blokes who were henpecked, seriously..
I was glad to escape after 13 years back to the outside work....
I got kinda offered the Golf Course but nope, happy where I am..
no grief , no hassle and someone else taking the responsibility. I'd been a chargehand/parkkeeper for decades, then they restructured and made the error of not using the word...
I was 10 years retired at the end of March..
Doesn't feel that long...
Reactions? just more likely ignored as usual...
The Monument days are the highlights...
I wasn't planning on the Fri usual but I got a lift so I headed out after all..
Yeah, never thought about that...Owdo
Middle child never bought you a cuppa!
I'd be having words...
No wind here, slight breeze at times and that's it.
I stopped at a nearby bowling green a few years ago..They all say that though...
Some of the biggest moaners on the bowling green near me, were those who felt they were better than everyone else. Even when results showed otherwise.
One fella, in charge of green keeping, shut the green with immediate effect, until reported problems were checked and rectified. Think he'd had enough of the moaning.
You'd an indoor bowling green? That were posh.
You could have applied for reduced rates, inspecting and rating other greens you visited.
Getting paid for doing it as well.
What were word they missed/didn't use.
10 years of taking things easy and doing what you want.
Nothing said, could be a bad sign. Work being planned to coincide with the cycling...
To the Scout Hut you did go...
They need a gentle reminder. i mean how could she not offer you a cuppa at the very least!Yeah, never thought about that...
You didn't take his membership offer up?I stopped at a nearby bowling green a few years ago..
Got chatting and mentioned green was looking okay for the time of season,
got the story as bloke was obviously committee.
He'd asked if I had ever bowled, Bowled? aye and a greenkeeper of one for 13 years. you could see the ear pop up, greenkeeper? aye, certified and everything. I did the college stuff.
'We're looking for members, you'd be more than welcome to join'..
I explained my experiences had sullied my thoughts on bowling, being very diplomatic I was...
'Remember this green if you ever change your mind'
I hadn't noticed a neighbour who was in the clubhouse....
He said bloke had come in and said he'd been trying to get that bloke to join, he's a greenkeeper as well....
my neighbour said that he better not say he knew me![]()
Advice? as much as you wanted to know, work? no way hose....
I was in a garden centre ,month ago?
saw a bloke stacking up sleepers (40 quid a go)..
told him a local merchant who'd same size etc for 20 quid each..
last seen filling his truck with a fair pile of them...
why bother...
They need a gentle reminder. i mean how could she not offer you a cuppa at the very least!
You didn't take his membership offer up?
I bet that green stayed on your mind for a few days as you did your best to avoid it on yer travels. Diplomat Bob, the CV grows ever longer.
Yer neighbour afraid he'd be asked to do what they wanted you to do.
They'd have probably wanted you to demonstrate as well. Then possibly revoke yer membership when they had the best green in the area, and other clubs had said as much.
Think I've said this before, when working in the shop, I'd advise them of other, local shops selling what they wanted if we didn't have it. One of the store managers got curious about this shop passing customers onto them, and paid a visit. Asked why, and explained that I did what I could, order in from one of the other shops if possible, but if not an option I kept my eyes open for other places selling them. Or cheaper than we were. Keep the money spent locally. First time he'd come across this, but he got his staff sending customers up to us if they didn't have it. Some items were must have items, In The Night Garden, Bob The Builder... As you'll know with Paw Patrol, no doubt.
Some will never take your advice, maybe thinking yer trying to rip them off, sending them elsewhere whilst you buy what they were going to.
Some don't want helping.
Owdo up there...Good morning![]()
Sun streaming in...
and cracked the cursor problem, I changed the colour
Enjoy your dayOR

It's odd how so few of these places have a downhill escape route. You stop at the top?I pedalled like hell up the hill in case reinforcements arrived
The less grief and drama is life the better...
Green was showing signs of being bumpy...
Pearlwort, more likely..
99% of bowlers would shout 'Roll the green'
I once closed the green for 24 hrs, 'Why?' I'm going to cure the bumpy bowls' ..
one week later, barely a blip as any bowl rolled down the green...
It gave them the chance to moan about something else...
A pal was in charge at local golf club and he said those who fiddle their handicap moan the most as cover, I played with more than a few and wondered how they managed to get into single figures, like yon big orange bloke
The most important thing (apart from grass) is moving the rink markers daily, distance? depending on the previous days weather, wet? 18 inches, dry 10 to 12 inches, games on rink per day? 15 ..
The big blue river place or smyths for us..maybe the Arg of Os.. for toys..
You miss a Woolies for stuff like that....
One g/child is Minecraft daft.....
