You could have gone up in yer work clothes, hard hat an'all. Your version of one of the village people. Saved on taxi fares...
No late night private parties allowed that you could DJ.
Similar laws down here.

Wary of the two blokes who kept on turning up at first I bet. Suppose it were one advantage to the job he never thought about at the time.
Were you ever tempted to spend the night in the hotel. Only returning to the tent to pick the tent up.

You passed it onto whoever got picked up first. How long did the poles last when you started leaving them behind.
It can get wet down here, but not as wet as up there. Not as a general rule anyway.
The tranny also useful for the weather forecasts as you lay in the tent, rain hitting the flysheet. Something to read was always in the rucksack. Like yerself summat to read when tent bound.

Jeez, have you ever seen hotel prices up here?
No wonder, the bulk of tourists never return..
Some of the prices quoted for someone's spare room is well into three figures,
As I mentioned before, I planned out a Scotland by Travel card (bus pass) but using soft beds not roughing it..
TBH? we both could have had an all-inclusive holiday abroad much cheaper..
Idea well knocked on its head.....

The pub we used was mostly empty, the wee trendies all headed to another down the glen, we avoided it mostly.
Full most times with folk in hiking gear, all that was missing was the price tags (I've friends in the Lakes who say the same thing)

Taxi? don't think there were such as thing...

I've just made a fake stone for geocaching but using up all the spare PLA left on spools, so four spools to go into the recycling, lengths were from a couple of metres upwards..I'd better email local estate to ask for permission. Email winging their way...

All the bikes got a quick fettle this morning,
I remember a couple of weekends literally stuck inside as a miserable place when wet.
We never missed many weekends...
It was, every fortnight....I had courting to do the alternate weekend

I've seen hotel prices for popular parts down these parts. And in some cases I've prior experience of them, so wonder how they justify asking the price they do.
I've not been back to any I've been to once.
That they wonder why people don't holiday on this island, given their prices, is what gets me.
Who knocked it on it's head?

That sorta place. One for the locals, who most don't want to mix with on holiday.
Any in the hiking gear just to fit in.

Aye, you get charged for being taken for a ride. Nearly as bad as hotels.

One way of using up what you had left, rather than throwing it.
Suppose they say "No".

All now in full working order, ready for the next out.
There tends to be fewer folk around in wet weather. You'd have got away with more.
Did you ever combine the two weekends?

Yeah, occasionally the future Mrs M and I had a trip up, I could never get bored..
We did use an official campsite....
proper white porcelain and everything
She was back home every second weekend, it suited me, of course, but she moved through to my neck of the woods so........
the fortnightly trip became a lot less,
The mate moved back to the lakes so 1979, and I became a regular visitor, choo choo down and back, bus out to Keswick (not fortnightly though, every couple of months), expensive business
Oh well.....

I'm more premier inn, travelodge type places, cheap AND you know what you are getting.
Been a busy day, here do you like my six colour fake rock ?
I used all the ends of spools for the first five layers and just finished it in matte grey..
IMG_0314.jpg

there is a threaded 'hollow' on the bottom of the 'rock'
I mailed a local estates to see if I could get permission to place a couple out locally but not holding out much hope....
That's a couple of 'supports' at the rear of the rock, also inside the 'hole', overhangs and hollows need supports to print over....
The 'log' goes in the screw part....
Quite a few 'prints' for geocaching I'd like to try....

Tha took the luxury route back then! Weren't trying to impress someone were you!
You didn't have "His and Hers" tents by any chance.
Not given the time to get bored... You at least get the time of day?
Check the fares now and see how they compare. Assuming you can get a train, there and back, in the first place.
You still make the odd trip down? Future Border Raid maybe.

You'd spend £70 plus a night to sleep indoors!
It'll stand out until it's been left outside for a while. No rubber seal on the cap, the inside 'll get damp, maybe even wet.
Don't ask you'll never know. You might even find yourself having to make another.
See how it does in the wild. How long yer printing lasts.
Be a handy hiding place for a key.

Hoping yet responses are positive.

70? depends on how early you book.....
I think our combined ages of 140 deserve something soft and somewhere dry to kip.....
His and hers tents, we were single, you DON'T do that unless you're married:laugh:
Fares now, jeez..
I paid over 4 quids for an Edinburgh return in 1976, now with inflation - £36..(off peak)
Train fare now - £36 (off peak)
Penrith? Now... £59.19p, the cheapest option, plus bus to Keswick and back.
Four cans of beer and a snack pack.... would be a lot cheaper in those days.
Penrith 1976 7 quid? not that bad...if you use Edinburgh price from '76...
Off peak at all times..

I had thirteen caches placed out back in the old area.
I upset the person who verified the caches before they went live.
I was adapting some Strava segments for cache names, but I got the high and mighty, haughty usual response from the person. My response? I've just delisted my caches, I had a few to put out as well.
One cache, I got refused for it being near a fallen drystone wall (they said, as they'd checked on Google Earth) I nipped over and rebuilt the short piece of wall and said I had rebuilt the wall previously, sent an image but nope, no permission,,,
I gave up...I remember their name from it, so I'm wondering if still doing the same old

PLA is not advised for outside, I've got PETG in blue
They are easy to make, so replacing them wouldn't take much.
I'm considering paying for premium as there are a ton in the nearby woods to look for, I'll pay for a year then stop the recurring but I'll post a few finds to see if they throw me an offer...

Last month for this month. Cheaper pay the extra for the earlier train(peak period), with the last train back.
Possibly, but you're only as old as you feel/act.
Tent shouldn't leak if new, if it does it can go back for a refund.
Fair enough, I'll bow to your experience on the tent front.
I'm going to check again, but last time I looked it were cheaper travel over The Border(enemy territory) and then travel back to York than it was direct, and staying this side.

Did you delist and remove before you moved. After you'd upset that bloke. You were tying the caches into strava or strava into your cache names.
How'd he upset you? The names you were planning on using or that you were using strava.
They didn't check the wall for themselves, in person, relying on google to show them. Did you go back and reinstate the wall to how it was before you rebuilt it when they wouldn't give permission.
Sounds as though your reputation has gone before you.

PETG much dearer than PLA?
Just input the plan and leave the printer to provide you with the finished "rock".
There's a premium for geocaching?
They might throw you something, might not be what you were expecting though.

Canned chopped pork included?
You managed to prepare yerself!
Not canned, shop sliced only and has to be Morrisons...

PETG ? same price..
I need to look more at it I thought I'd created the file, but the temp settings are all wrong as PETG is 220c °C and 70c plate, I do PLA at 190 and 60. Maybe I should stick to what I know:whistle:
Think I'll try another programme to use PETG as i don't want to bog up my current ones' settings.
Big day tomorrow...
Microsoft is paying....

Old tents were notorious for if you touched the outside sheet it let water in..
Constant waterproofing was the name of the game....

Choo Choo v Bus..
Cost wise for me now, Bus win...
But pre that age.. I see your lot darn sarff demanding the 60 year card like the rest of us...
Time spent travelling is the thing, the fading holiday resort to Edinburgh is two trains plus a 15-minute walk between stations, although odd train leaves the first one.
Bus to Penrith, the cheapest is the bus to say Gretna then another bus(es) to Penrith, no freebies for me across the border.....

I'm off..

They must have different suppliers for up there. It's not worth writing home about down here. Shop sliced or otherwise.

Why the difference then.
More durable or summat, less on the reels.
You don't try it, now and again, you'll never learn what you don't know. Temperatures that important in the 3D printing malarkey.
What's wrong with the current programme, and what'll another one let you do.
Microsoft paying, updates for all yer computers!

Just run yer finger down the inside, to the ground, is what we were taught. If we were daft enough to touch the side. Last single skin tent I waterproofed was an eleven man Icelandic. Currently sat in the loft, with the poles in the shed.

Choo Choo! Not Bertie for the longer trips.
On cost grounds, wouldn't free win anytime.
Even more demand the further south you travel.
Those in charge of the choo choose don't seem to have cottoned onto the fact that you may have more than one station in the same place. And at times you may need to move between them. Take it you don't do the two trains trip too often.
You want freebies south of the border. Yer pushing yer luck there, surprised they're not charging you extra.

Early to bed to be ready for the Toodles Twins, or recovering from today?

I'm not a fan of sitting for long trips,
I'd rather pay the extra and get there quicker, although if it's free, I should consider.
Express bus to Penrith....only.
I looked all this data up last night, and I think the trip to EDI had 50-odd possible stops en route and a change in GLA, and took a fair bit longer, yet it would be free, I don't do long journeys well even in the Towersmobile....
Happy anniversary to me.
Chuck and Di never lasted but we did, we got hitched the day after them..
I assume that's why they never covered our event on't telly....

I can't remember the last time I was on a choo-choo, possibly a trip up to GLA?
Buses? hospital and doctor appointments.

Just deleted a pile of unwanted emails from a pesky cafe thing, almost every second day, do these folk not understand how this would piss people off from using them? And the unsubscribe button doesn't work?

Food time before the hordes descend, sorry, the Toodles Gang..

You'd be no good on a long-haul flight then.
I agree on paying the extra for the quicker journey up to a point. Especially if there's a large difference in the time, but not the cost to me.
Fifty-odd, were it a service bus? Not even when chauffer driven, there's summat wrong there.

Can see why yours were missed, bigger news down London way. Easier get to as well.

You'll not realise the delights you're missing, especially on Fridays. Playing sardines because the previous two you could have caught, were no-shows, and people try to prove three into one will go. The drunks, screaming n'shouting kids...

Can you not mark it as junk, return to sender as it were, in this modern world we get by in. I think they not only realise, but know they'll piss people off, but there's always that one chance someone will read one, possibly even act on it. It's the marketing departments new way of working. Alienate ten existing customers in the off chance they'll get one new customer.

Fed and fortified for whatever the day brings your way now, no doubt...
